This is a great plan for a lighted plant stand!
Great plant stand plans
I had just added this to the link list for our sticky! Great!
Cool :)
I thought this was an awesome link!
Great Link :))
I actually found it on Dave's garden. It was in another thread.
I think I am going to try making one of these.
It would be great for leaf cuttings
Yes sure would !
Wow...just may need to make one of those.
Yeah :) me too :)
I didn't see it in the other forum until I did a google search :)
It is awesome foe leaves!
I found this page while looking for strep propagation techniques.
It's a good one for those of us who are visual learners!

and on that same note, they have a section on growing using lights!

Nice Links ! I like the second where it says
"Once you have your light garden set up, place the plants so that the foliage is about 4 to 6 inches from the bottoms of the tubes. If you put them too far away from the lights, the plants will become gangly and stretched. If you let the leaves touch the tubes, the tips of the leaves will usually burn and turn brown "
This is great I do keep my grow lights close and never burn or have tight centers. My leaves/babies are real close :))
Some people keep their lights so far away , or don't change them when they get old ( I need to do more of mine lol) or wipe dust off of them ( I need to get this done also lol ) and your wasting electricity as your plants are not getting what they need !
Miniatures need to be closer the 4-6 inches from lights. Minatures need watering more often but less amounts.
They need more grooming and re-potted more often
How often are you supposed to change them? Or is there a way to tell that they need to be changed?
hmmm, and here I'd thought Allison was the one who had said something about putting lights 8 to 10 inches from AVs (which is further away than the 6 inches that was working for me).... maybe you meant 8 to 10 inches from the shelf to the light, which would only 4 to 6 inches from the top of the foliage to the light?
April, the regular florescent tubes (T-12's) should be changed every 12 months, I believe... you can tell when the ends of the tube start turning dark (sometimes), and there is a drop in light output that you might not notice unless you had a new tube to compare it to. I think the skinnier T-8 tubes are supposed to last longer, but I'll have to check on that.... if true, it would help make up for their costing a little more.
Mini's I like 4-6 inches but I'm sure most of mine are closer. lol And standards further and most of them are closer.lol I have never burned or had problems. I might have told someone who had tight centers or were burining their foliae. My babies and leaves almost touch !
Critter, thanks! Good to know.
Allison really that close? Wow.
You are all so good about sharing information! Thank you.
