To cover or not to cover..that is the question!

I got some seed trays in yesterday.
I was wondering, do most of you cover your leaves? Does it make them grow faster?
I was wondering because I am deciding whether or not to use the covers for this or something else :)

I think the extra humidity under the cover helps roots to form (before roots form, leaves may have a hard time getting enough moisture just from the damp potting mix). I do poke a bunch of holes in my covers (with a heated skewer) so things don't stay too wet.

With FL's normal humidity levels, you may not need any covers however. I think Allision has posted that she does not cover her leaves or plantlets, as for her it only leads to rot.

Hmm ok
I will check with Allison and see what she thinks.
Thanks for the input!

I don't cover anything. Except my husband bought some pastries buy one get one free :)) I got two clear , plastic containers good size like take out. Now I had several Chimera suckers, and miniature suckers. I potted each up in thumbprint pots and they are in one of these conatainers with many hole close under light. First week I had to open every couple hours and take plant pots out dry container , and leaves it open for awhile.
Few days ago I put a 1-2 inch lawyer pf Perilite into the other one and put several different names Streptocarpus leaves in it straight into the Preilite. I have lots of babies Streps coming up in soil-less mix not covered fast and strong but I just felt like doing some like this :)) Well I have not been able to keep the cover closed for more than a couple hours then it must be open and dryed out. It's close under lights also.
So I really never cover my leaves. Does not take long even with lots of holes for moisture to fill up and leaves will rot. I think they like good air circulation , warmth, light, and some himudity best. Allison
