So here my story, my 'Variegata' (Alocasia macrorrhizos) has not been looking too well these days and has been neglected since hurricane season. maybe too much water although it did have one newhand size leaf coming out of it but before I could save me it was chopped to about 2 inches from the top of the bulb? and trashed as we were having some palms put in today. I managed to dig it out of the trash and have repotted it with most of its roots intact although the long thick one is severed. im not sure what else to do. What are the chances or is there something else i should do.
Thanks Neil

'Variegata' (Alocasia macrorrhizos) Help
Neil, I had a small one in a pot that I thought had died. Lazy me left the pot outside this summer and to my surprise, it resprouted about 2 months later. Today, it is doing well inside under grow lights.
I don't know if yours will come back, but you may want to give it a chance.
if its on deaths door putting it in a humidity dome could save it. Another thing is root hormone it can sometimes bring it back. The thing you have to look at is the tuber if its smushed it could be dead but if its solid it should do fine. I have started pieces of tubers in humidity domes all you need is the right humidity and warm temps. Just be sure it does not get to hot in their or it will cook it and rot. No full sun or extreme temps.
Thank you Guys
I feel better now. I hate loosing a plant. Brian the Tuber is solid and there is about 2 inches of leaf stalk (trunk)above it but has beed severed, a little bit of mush at the base looks like where old leaves were connected. Should the new growth come out of the middle of the severed trunk or the sides?
Thanks again Neil
Latest news is that the main trunk looks dark and dead but I have a small shoot with one leaf open coming up from the side. So does this mean that i cant expect anything from the main plant and start all over again with the pups. Also should i remoove the pups or leave them attached to the main plann stump.

About 4 years ago I planted some in a new garden spot...it 'died' so I forgot about it and continued to put things in that spot. Last year it came up and turned into a gorgeous plant in that area. Around here they call it Pocket Taro. I now have them all over the place and they do seem to die back....
