This is yet another of my rescued animals. This is Festus, a male rottie of unknown age. In 1997 I heard about his sad plight and DH and I went to get him. The "people" that had him were going to shoot him or take him to the pound b/c he had snapped at their very small kids and their other dogs. He was on a chain when we first saw him and seemed very friendly.These people weren't the original owners and they couldn't tell us anything about him. We knew nothing about him- his age, health, how he was treated, etc... He didn't even have a name!!! We suspect he was stolen and the guy was going to try to "fight" him. I hate to say it but the people looked very unsavory.
DH unchained him and he immediately jumped up on the trunk of my car!! I knew right then he was going home with me, come heck or high water!!!. This was on a Sat afternoon, so we had to wait til Mon to take him to the vet for a checkup, shots, etc.... Vet thinks he was about 4-5 yrs old and seemed to be in good health. He had been neutered sometime in the past and still had the sutures!!
It became quickly obvious to us that this dog had had a bad life. He hates other male dogs and so we have to keep him separated from my male dobie. We have loved him and I believe rescued him from a sad end. He has gotten older and slowed down a bit but I love my big 'ole Festie!
