Please help, I'm making a Cooks Ham for Christmas Eve dinner and I was wondering if there was any way to decrease the salt content before I cook it. I have an 11 pound butt portion sitting in the fridge and a very small family (only 7 of us) coming for dinner on Christmas Eve which means lots of leftovers since we will be having alot of other dishes. I love ham but I'm very salt sensitive and always retain water after eating it. Will soaking it in water help any?
Any suggestions and ideas would be appreciated.
