I was told that holly is poisonous if my cats would gnaw on it. I bought a holly bush to use as a Christmas tree and want to bring it into the living room in the next couple days. If they are in the same category re: toxicity as poinsettias, then it's not too bad, I won't worory. The man that runs a greenhouse close to me said that you'd have to eat a gazillion poinsettias in order for them to be toxic. And, the cats didn't seem to bother the brugs, but those were the outside cats. Haven't had brugs inside. I've had poinsettias, tho, and they just chewed on a few leaves now and then. Any input?? TIA.
Holly toxicity
Anna,
I've had connection problems so I'll get you here.
Holly berries and leaves are considered Moderate to high on cat toxicity.
We grow 5 different Holly, all fruiting, and we have never had a problem w/ the cats.
This though is in an outdoor situation.
Here's some sites.
