So I've been told that you can't survive by gardening alone... and I suppose in a lot of cases that is true. And further to support a florishing garden.. well, you've got to dish out a lot of money for postage to your DG trade partners.. but it's been a bit of a trial finding what I want to do to earn said money. I've done biology for 7 years in academia and just up and quit last year, I've been working in glass for a year longer than that, and I'm going to attempt to sustain myself with glasswork.. and maybe gardening on the side when the season comes around. I just put a bunch of photos of my recent work on a glass artists website, and they're pretty well suited to this forum I think. http://www.GlassArtists.org/BlueGinkoGlassworks
This fall I collected and pressed leaves of native species to render in glass. There's another load coming with more maples and ginkgos (why didn't anyone tell my that was spelled wrong when I was asking for critiques on my business card?) etc, and sometime this winter I have three large panels drawn, one of three koi fish from above, one long panel of Jack-in-the-pulpits, and one panel of an Angraecum orchid and it's pollinating moth from Madagascar.
Questions and comments from other gardeners /artists are very welcome, and thanks for reading.
What I'm doing with my life.. I think.
