Elvis, RIP

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Here is a pic of my very first cat Elvis. Sadly, he died 3 yrs ago. I soo miss him and his little tusk! He is the feral cat I rescued from where I work, about 1997 I think. I had to gradually befriend him and after several months, finally got him close enough to literally shove in a cat carrier.Took him straight to the vet for surgery, shots, etc... My vet said I had made a huge mistake and would never tame him. 2 days later, he was a purring baby and was a loving pet til he died. This is strange but aftere we rescued him and brought him home, he never vocalized again, even when he and my other cat would fight. He would very lightly purr but that was it. He used to 'scream' at me when he would see me come in the parking lot. I can see him now racing across the parking lot and calling to me. He knew he was going to get fed and talked to. This went on for several months. I was soo afraid he would get ran over or hurt. When I learned that my employer was going to have their cat roundup[read kill them] I got desperate and kidnapped him- against DH wishes. He didnt want a cat and I had begged for months. I finally decided that I WAS by God's grace going to get this cat!! DH fell in love with him right away.

Vet said Elvis had had a very hard life and his jaw had been broken- hence the tusk. He also had a giant hernia. I thank God I was able to make Elvis' last years good ones.

Sorry I rambled on but I do so miss my kitty!
