I browse this forum often although since I am new to av’s I haven't had many pictures to post…yet. I have noticed that about every month or two someone asks about av care. It always seems to get the same response (a good one) to check Rob's and then a list of very helpful information. I know this was very useful for me when I first started with av's. I was wondering if Dave would let us have a sticky that would have all the care info at the top of the forum. Everyone could add a tip but this could be kept just for tips and not for discussion. I don't know if this is a good idea and please tell me if it sounds like it would never work. :)
Just a thought
I think it is a great idea. It came up before but nothing happened with it.
It is an excellent idea.. I think someone has to send the powers that be an email requesting the sticky posts??
MsC
Terry dmailed me to welcome me to Daves
if you want..I will point Terry to this post.
I bet that would get it done :)
Wonderful! I'm sure they will gladly make us a sticky note....please ask for us.
MsC
That was a lot easier that I thought. :)
I think doing this will be very helpful to new av addicts.
I think it's a great idea. I brought it up earlier but it didn't seem like there was much interest.
Now that is what is known as a smile.
Sounds like a good "Sticky."

Yhis picture was a surprised was on the front cover of Winter 2006 Hospice magazine that gets sent out to 46 thousand people threw out the country ! Then there was a little story about the comfort of staying home and another picture of my best CNA and I working on AV's :))

Lovely picture Allison! Is that your partner in crme beside ya?
He is adorable! What type of dog is it?
oh and what is the link to the thread we want to make sticky? LOL I got sidetracked.
Suck a cute pup. I keep trying to talk DH into getting me a dog but with 3 cats he's scared we're going to have a zoo. Although I don't know if that would bother me as much as it would him.
Should we create a thread and then they will make that thread a sticky?
I think we should start a new thread for the sticky. I don't know how the logistics work, but if one person can maintain it, we can keep it clean.
Here's a suggestion. I did a similar thing over on flickr, so we could start with that http://www.flickr.com/groups/gesneriads/discuss/21727/
and then comb the posts here for good links.
We could have possibly a few stickys - one for links, one for AV culture, another for propagation....

I would probably get a good idea to wait a few days before we start the ones that we want so everyone can give input. That way we don't rush in and have to ask for a change to be made. I like the idea for a few different threads but we should probably keep them to a minimum. More than three or four will probably get a bit lost and confusing. There is something slightly similar to this on the Upper Midwest Forum. It is a sticky for a planning calendar. There only one person uspdates the thread but I think it would be nice for everyone to be able to give tips and put links up. Keyrings idea of having a moderator is a great idea.
Hopefully we can get everyone who uses this forum often to give suggestions.
Jess
Let's try to keep it on track
I just did a quick (well not so quick) search of all the threads that have sticky threads and how they are used. Wow there are a lot of threads on DG!
There are a lot of forums with sticky threads out there, I’m amazed that I have never paid attention, but I have only listed the ones that seem to have something different.
The brug forum has one that people respond to and then one person updates the top of the thread to keep all of the names organized. davesgarden.com/forums/f/brugsetc/all/
The UMW forum has a calendar sticky thread and a suggestion thread. The calendar is only updated by one person and anyone can reply to the suggestion thread. davesgarden.com/forums/f/region_umw/all/
The Dahlia forum has a few threads that are for suggestions and questions that often come up. davesgarden.com/forums/f/dahlias/all/
The Hoya forum has a very interesting way of doing things. They have one person who updates the thread and they add the links to other threads under each category. davesgarden.com/forums/f/hoya/all/
Thats a great idea.it would be great for newbies like me.
Allison--great picture.its nice knowing the person you talk with.maybe we could all post our pictures? Is that allowed?
I like the hoya one - nice and compact.
I think I'll have time to gather some links etc this weekend. I can either start a potential sticky thread, or if someone else wants to start I can dmail info.
In the meantime, keep the comments coming. What do you all think of the hoya forum sticky? http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/471942/
Very informative Keyring. Thanks. Need any help or information please let me know. Thanks, Allison
I also like the hoya sticky.
