My new sago

Visalia, CA

Was alot of work to move so I thought I would share it since I am so proud I actual got it home! This sago was removed using a 2 ton engine hoist by me and my dad yesterday. Just planted 2 hours ago in a bed of sand and palm/cactus soil. The watering dam will be knocked down tomarrow, its just there for the initial watering to set the plant. The fronds are still tied here (2 rows) when let down they span 7 feet, before we trimmed it and the remove sit is was 9 feet tall and 8 1/2 feet wide.

WOW! Both are wonderful. I've moved sagos about half that size and it was a killer so I totally appreciate the work you went to. Please post photos when you untie the sago.

Here it is untied, it is cut back to the last growth ring in order to help it put more effort into growing roots than supporting folage. In a few days they will spread out and lay down more instead of sticking up.
It does look lonely out there atm but it will soon get many friends.
