Today is DH's shopping day so I won't have to fix lunch. That gives me the whole day to make Christmas treats. We're going to friends' for dinner and I want to take them some, so it's perfect timing. I usually try to get most of my Christmas baking done in one concentrated whirlwind. Do you do the same or spread it out?
For many of my cookies, I can make the dough today but bake it off in small batches as needed for fresh-baked goodies. All of these fit that requirement except the last two. And, of course, the nuts keep for weeks without degrading, so that's no big loss of freshness.
Today's to-do list includes:
Lizzies (bourbon-soaked fruitcake drop cookies)
Sicilian Fig Cookies
Date-Walnut Pinwheels
Mexican Wedding Cookies
Cheese-Walnut-Parsley Pinwheels
Sugared Pecans and Walnuts
Toffee Diamonds
Then if there's any more time left, I'll add another one or two.
Is it Christmas treats-making day yet?
