Sick cinnamomfolia

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

This is a picture of the only two leaves I have on my cinnamomfolia plant. What seems to be the trouble? Can I still make a cutting with these sick leaves?

Heather...no harm in trying. It looks like you 'may' have a fungus called cercospora...and you might try hitting it with a fugicide . Daconil is one brand I have been at Home Depot which lists cercospora as one the nasties it attacks....Are the roots rotted? If not, I wouldn't try to reroot...

Do those little bumps go all the way thru to the top? Does the top of the leaf have little yellow spots? Do any of your other hoyas have yellow spots and that 'pitted" look? Obscura is one of the victims quite often.

Carol, is physan 20 a fungicide? None of the other hoyas seem to have that. Yes, the bumps go all the way to the top. What causes fungus? BTW, thanks!

Well, in fact Physan IS a fungicide...never thought of using that!!! you could try it on one leaf.

Fungi are all around all the time. Just a nasty stoke of luck if it decides to reside in your plant....also can be due to stress on the part of the plant that makes it weaken.
Tinactin aerosol is said to work....I have used it successfully too. There are some fungicides that go systemic...those are the best!!!

I guess I could be glad that I got fungus. You know the whole learning how to treat different problems with hoyas. However, couldn't it have settled to attack a carnosa. Those are easier to replace, lol! I'll let you know what happens.

Oh, what a bummer. I read some where that someone put toenail fungus in her plants!!! I never could find where I was again to see if it worked. I wouldn't think so, but ya never know. I have heard of stranger things...
