African Violet Nomenclature

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Hoping admin will make this a sticky.

After reading the "Wasp" thread, I started mentally collecting AV nomenclature that I needed the definitions for, Wasp being one of them.
A few others are:
"Bustle" or bustleback
"Fantasy"
"Sticktite"

So I thought we could start a thread with some of the more common terms.

Additionally, I did find the http://www.optimara.com/ website which has a link on the left hand site Glossary of Terms Which is also helpful.

So for example

Fantasy = Bloom pattern with splashed or dotted contrasting colors or appearance.

Here's a link to a web site with great images showing flower and leaf types for AV's

"Wasp" refers to single blossoms that have separate, very narrow, petal lobes.
