Here is the reason for the name Fostweed. When the plant freezes it bursts and the juices make beautiful ice patterns.

Wow! That is so cool. I wonder if any of its relatives do the same thing? I found quite a few plants this summer. Same genus, but a different species. I'll have to look it up later. How long does that effect last?

Unfortunately only as long as the temperature stays below freezing.
Bur it sure is neat. I hope your plants will do it for you, if not, I can send you some seed.

Yes, it looks like frozen whipped cream, very neat, of course with the temperature at 17 degrees tonight, we will still have it tomorrow.
