How to propogate hoyas

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I am NEW to hoyas :) Got my first couple of clippings just the other day.
Right now I have them in water and am trying to get them to root.
Is this the best way to root them?

Hi Chris!
I am currently experimenting with a bubbler to see if the woody-stemmed Hoyas do well, so will bow to those more experienced with common rooting techniques in the advice-giving area. I just wanted to say hello from a fellow Floridian. I lived most of my life in West Palm Bch and Jupiter.
Welcome to Hoyas. You will soon find that they are a lot like potato chips.. one is NEVER enough! ;~)

I tried laying down both soft and woody stemmed into 100% perlite with a heating mat under it and have had great success. I tried this after three weeks of watching and blowing up ziplock baggies. I got roots in a matter of days. So I'm going to keep with this method during the winter. I tried soil/perlite mix but it was just staying too damp.
Now I have AV leaves, rhipsalis leaves, begonias, plectranthus, that purple fuzzy houseplant I cant remember it's name, crassula, lipstick and some others all in the same tray.

I got the trays with out holes and melted holes with my soldering iron. So far so good.

Hi Chris - glad to have you on this forum - bunch of REALLY nice and knowledgeable people here. Unfortunately, I'm a newbie too. But, I can tell you that I rooted (successfully) several hoya cuttings by putting them in small plastic cups (tiny holes cut in the bottom) filled with a combination of mostly perlite with some potting soil. I then set the cups in an aluminum disposable roasting pan, which I placed on top of a wet/dry heating pad purchased cheaply at Walmart - I did put a cookie sheet between the heating pad and the roaster to distribute heat more evenly (a suggestion learned here on the forum!). The heating pad had an automatic shut off, in case I'd forget to turn it off. I put it on low setting. Sprizted a little water in there, and covered the plants in the roasting pan with the plastic lid that came with the pan. Oh, I also punched a few holes in the plastic lid (another suggestion learned here!) for ventilation. All the cuttings rooted well. This was just the method I tried - several other people probably have had success with other methods. Hope this helps, and welcome! Karen
