Broms in my tree and freezing weather

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

So... it usually doesn't freeze here but we are expecting it possibly. I just put broms in my oak tree this year... will they be ok or should I try to take them down? I'm near Houston...

Thanks!

Mine stay out all year and they do fine. Sometimes they even produce several babies during the winter. I would leave them where they are. They seem to be really hardy.

Cool. Thanks Nema!

Many of mine survived the SNOW we had last year and I'm a bit south of you.
If you are worried and don't want to move them then you can just through a white sheet over them and tie it in place. That helps to keep the frost from burning the leaves but is still light enough for them to breath and get a bit of light, too.

I am Brom ignorant but think they are beautiful . Didn't know they could be planted outdoors, thought they were an indoor plant. Now, can they be grown in my zone 7 hot, dry summer? Would love to plant some but am afraid our summers would be too much for them.

I rooted billbergia and neo's in "pockets" in my pecan trees a couple of years ago. The billbergia have gone crazy. The neo hasn't bloomed, or maybe I missed it. It's producing pups. All have survived the cold temps.
I am a little further south than you are but they should do fine as long as the roots can stay warm.

Will post a photo later tonight!
