your best compact chimera?

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

oh how interesting.... it appears to have deleted the text....

After MsC's posts, I was gonna join in and ask: what's your favorite compact or mini, non-trailing, chimera with white+color flowers? A while back I decided I don't have space for Neptune's Jewels, which is a pretty big plant, but I miss having those kinds of flowers.

Edited to say: this post is Reply 1... the slot for the original post has gone missing :-(

My favorite chimera is The Alps. It's a standard and when I save S20.00, I think I will buy it.

Keyring,

Pixie Peppermint is one you might like. It is a semi-miniature and you can get the description on www.lyndonlyon.com. There's also a great pic on www.avsa.org.

I like and vote for ;
" Little Polar Bear "
S. Sorano Semi-Miniature Double Chimera white star/dark blue stripe. Medium green.
MY second vote is for Ms Smartypants;
By S. Sorano Semi-miniature
Semidouble Chimera white pansy /pink stripe , green frilled edge.
Medium green. , ruffled.
Ok I want them both :))
Then I also saw a picture of Rob's Magnetic Field ;
7033 01/05/1989 R. Robinson Miniature
Double Chimera dark pink /dark blue stripes. Dark green girl
foliage/red/back. Miniature
I'm sure they will all be hard to find I'll go searching and let you know. FC has pictures of all three :))

OK I fount a Semi-miniature Little Misty Blue on lyon's web sight I'd like that very pretty.
http://www.lyndonlyon.com./std07.html
And they also have Ms Smarty Pants :)) As I am trying to grow 95 percent Mini's and Semi's WOW
Ms. Smartypants -$12.50- PHOTO-GC - White, semidouble, slightly cupped pansy shaped blossoms have pink, center pinwheel stripes, plus a frilly, green edge. The semiminiature, ruffled foliage is medium green in color.
***********************
Little Misty Blue -$12.50- PHOTO-G7 - Blue center stripes rest upon white, semiminiature pansies, which are flecked with white fantasy. Medium green foliage is lightly variegated. This variety is a sport of "Little Streaker".

***************** Nanna they also have the Alp's .. I had this one but sold it .
The Alps -$12.50- PHOTO-GC - This superior cultivar boasts a treasure of creamy white, semidouble, pansy shaped blossoms, painted with bold stripes of pastel blue in the petal centers. In near continuous bloom, an abundance of blossoms will form in clusters above the easy, rosette forming, medium to dark green foliage. One of our most frequently ordered chimeras. (Horikoshi/Sawara)

I'd go for a chimera swap!! :) What fun. I guess I'd better start trying to propagate!

oooh this is funny. are we all window shopping?

I need to browse the AVSA site some more. I find I can't select based on the sites that have pics of a flower (and maybe a leaf) - I want to see the growth habit too.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Lyon's has the pictures. AVSA photo's don't have them all. First class
has some. And a Chimera you want to be a little bad. If it does not sucker you can never have babies to share or in case something happens to your plant. Happy Shopping, Allison

I would love to start sharing chimeras, but I don't think I have one. I have a noid that I shared with Critterologist. The mom had two succors. The coloring is much like a chimera. The mother plant is now sporting with birth marks on the leaves. half the blooms are red with pint middle stripe and the other half are dark red. The second succor, that I kept is still blooming with the chimera markings. Critter. posted the plant on the Easter Swap thread.

Right now I have just two trailing Chimeras. One doing super good. One is tiny , it was a tiny sucker no roots a friend sent me from Canada, I had some I took their heads off to grow more I killed them. Expensive ones roo :((. And a few I sold. I'd like to gat a couple new ones in the Spring ! Allison
Oh Chimera secret trade could always be one for one , or 2 for 2 so on as they are more expensive to buy. Allison

A chimera trade wouldn't have to be secret, either, it could just be individuals arranging to trade plants.... but you're right that it should be one chimera for one chimera, or maybe one chimera for several choice "regular" AVs, to make up for the extra value & rareness of the chimeras. When I trade plants, I try to pay attention to how rare/valuable the plants are that I'm asking for, so I can try to offer a trade the other person will be happy with.... It's certainly fine to ask for a "special trade" offer on a choice plant like a chimera, and nobody should feel bad if their offer to trade for a special plant is rejected. I think the Trading Primer says something about that too -- and probably explains it better than I just did!

All wonderfuly said Jil ! Thanks, Allison
