Your Best Double White???

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

I want to add a double white standard to my collection but I can't seem to find many selling them now. I prefer a plain dark green foliage and if the flower blushes a pink or light lavendar that would be ok.

Anybody have a good pic of one they like & grow???

Thanks

Sorry, MsC. Can't help you with the double white. I've looked at a few nurseries but haven't found a really pretty double white bloom. I wonder why?

I grow Silver Wings .. It's a Vintage . Mine is in bloom. FC says Double White. But mine has sparkles of lavender and sometimes mint green edges. Some are all white. The flowers are alos large 2-3 inches across maybe more. Dark green, plain red/back foliage Large growing.
I also have Aly's Blizzard bunny. Though a miniature it has beautiful large Semidouble-double whte star flowers.
I also grow *** Yan-Selena (Natalia Puminova)
"Moon Goddess" White semidouble-double ruffled star. Light green ovate foliage. standard.
It's a really nice white.

Hiya Allison,
Yes, I looked it over, too. The only draw back to Madonna is that she has girl foliage?? Right?
Mmm...I do like the fact that it is a Vintage one though.

There's one of her on ebay but I think I may wait and search a bit longer, unless of course I find one I can't resist...(if you can imagine that!)

Allison,
I went looking at those Russian Violet sand got lost last night..lol
Some are just stunning!
Did you see the note at the bottom that said "some folks have trouble growing them?"

Do you know why they might have trouble growing them and what is different about them from our AV's as far as cultural requirements?

I'll send you a DG mail....

i HAVE NOT Had any trouble with them ? The leaves rooted and gave me babies fast. Now when I tried the swedish AJon's they never rooted well for me , nor grew well.
Bluebird greenhouse is where I got mine say;
Violets from Russian Hybridizers
This unique collection of plants are a result of the efforts to spread the works of Russian hybridizers to the African Violet Society. These plants were first introduced at the AVSA convention in Tucson in 2004. The blooms are very unique and different from other more traditional hybrid varieties
