He ran Lil' Red and Queenie off, or maybe even got Queenie pregnant. That's why the females leave abruptly. Lil Red stayed untill 2 or 3 weeks ago, so Big Red is left. He will go soon, but be back in a month or so-Rich

This hummingbird is a she, not a he. :) See the lack of color on the throat? A male would have the fuchsia colored throat. Even an immature male would be showing a few colored feathers as they grow in.

I always try to shoot things in a different form rhen I see on the web and in books. My problem is who would want it?I try to relate all things in that alternative view, like this. A drop of water on the tip of an Abutilon leaf.
