Looking for my cvs that are lost> James,Fullmoon,Pale Pink and others
I lost so many to a mistake by a foster kid via roundup mostly the newest ones! :-(
These are the brugmansia that I have now... some are only rooted cuttings but I am going to build my collection back up to where it was and maybe even better? :-)
I may have a few more but I will have to hunt through the greenhouse to see.
This time there will be back ups for each CVS
I have some rooted cuttings in 3x3 or 4x4 liners as trades

looking for trades need help rebuilding my collection
Wow what a colection. How do the plants do on the coast? I have just got my first real cuttings this yeatr and hope to have lots of flowers next year. These flowers are so beautiful and I had only seen a few at Nurserys and they were $35.00 for a 5 gal. pot.at Home and Garden.
we plan on retiring and moving to the coast next year-Pamlico County close to Minnesott a little community called Kennel's Beach. I plan on planting these there.
Lavina
They do great!
I am only 1 mile from the intercostal waterway!
I got my first one in '68 or '69.
Come by some time and I will be glad to give you some rooted cuttings as a gift. You can make a day here in Wilmington looking at al the historical sites, Ft. Fisher Battle Grounds, The Battle Ship NC, The NC Aquarium, and all the old homes etc.... Lots to see and do. All kinds of shopping too!
Larry
Larry, I'm confused about what you are looking for, you have a great bunch of brugs, and you live in my zone...
When spring gets here I'll be there. DH only lets me go on the motorcycle so I can't shop but last week we sold the cycle so now I can come in the truck. Whoopee, see you all in the spring.
lol

WOW! What a collection, Larry. Do ALL these go in the greenhouse for winter? Must be huge! I moved here to the FL Panhandle in June from Sunset Beach, NC so I'll see how the brugs make it through winter being int he ground. I expect them to die back like in Wilmington. But..........I'm getting ready for my last flush of blooms and I can't believe it is Dec 5th and I'll have loads of blooms in a couple more days.........sure couldn't do that at Sunset Beach! I will admit I do miss going to the neat spots in Wilmington.
Lavina, Larry's so right about Wilmington........lots to see and do. The riverfront is really neat and great little shops and restaurants.
Larry,
what a collection and your gardens must be stunning !
I TRULy and sincerely wish I had some to send you but I am just starting myself.Had just a few duplicates and just traded them,
Brigitte
Larry, wish I could help but I lost almost all my Brugs this year to whatever. I sent them off twice to be tested but they couldn't have tested them. Hope you get the ones you're looking for.
sherrylike,
I live in 8a
but warmer being close to the beach.
Anyone that comes to Wilmington, Let me know you are coming and when????
I always have gifts for visitors to my house...

Oh Yes the greenhouse is full of perfume tonight. It's 65'L x 18'W x 14'H and it's full LOL I had to put some in the Kennel Bldg. under lights. I have bananas growing in the ground. Lots of Tropical Hibiscus, Dioscorea,Clivia,Plumeria, and flowering vines. I even have some Datura with pods. I have a small foot path to check heaters and drag the water hose to water... Oh yea everyone needs to grow pineapple to eat. The ones you grow are nothing like what you get at the grocery... nothing like a fresh ripe ones you grow..
I want, need, have to have any that are not on my list.... LOL LOL LOL

Oh, Larry J. Smith, there is absolutely no way, in the entire world, that your zone 8a could be any more hot/humid than mine, whew!!! However, I'm willing to visit your zone 8a, to check it out, lol!! Oh, how I wish I could, I have pals along the east coast, but it generally turns out that they visit me!!! I love your thread and if I have brugs that might restock your collection, I will be more than happy to assist!!! Your posts are fun, the kind I love the very best!!!!
Gosh....are there THAT many Brugs you are missing... Seems to me (a novice here) you have everything!!!! Very impressive collection!
Thanks,
I lost app. 60 cvs. most were the ones from Europe.. :-( I guess I will try again next summer to import again.
We are going to get our first killing frost tonight. :-( I have the kennel packed with plants also. I leave the lights on 24/7 to keep them growing.
When I move my plants in: I water them first and then in a few days; I water again with some Superthrive and Hormex mixed in. This greatly lessens the shock of moving and having to cut the roots that make it out the bottom of the pot (liner).
Then in about 2 weeks I use Messanger.
With this they slow down just a little and then they kick in and start putting out growth and or blooms depending on the age of the wood or if they were cut back.
I will have some extra seeds of native perennial Hibiscus come early spring so remember to check with me in march.
Oh the greenhouse was so perfumed tonight. I have probably 20 "trees" with some blooms open.
Larry in NC.
I think that we should all plan a winter field trip to see Larry. Your greenhouse just sounds to wonderful.
Betty
Hi Larry,
I have Sunray, James & Carolyn M that I got from you a few years back, but they are melting to the ground right now as they tend to do since we have been getting some freezes. You can contact me next summer if you have not found them by then and we can work out a trade.
Donna
Any and all are welcome. I am normally here...
I do go to see my birth Mama 2hrs away! Oh man can she cook! I will never lose weight.... :-)
Thanks Donna... I may need to take you up on that.... :-)
I found out my birth father was born in 1884... snicker snicker... I was born in 1950... talk about having old genes lol lol lol
Has anyone heard from Tonny lately... I don't have his address. Does anyone?
I hope to build another greenhouse just for the Brugs. I have trays of cuttings up in the air about 6' I took 2x4s and made a long long double row of them 40+feet long and they are supporting all kinds of cuttings.... I guess there are an easy 40 trays with 18 liners in each. Then plastic coke trays with 24 cans with cuttings and 5 bred trays with 16 1 gal. pots full of plumeria seedling. They are high enough so that I am still getting enough light below as the sum moves...
I need to put up a sign over the door saying "Welcome to My Jungle!"
We are getting a cold rain now. I will have lots of rooted cutting to sell at the local hobby greenhouse sale come spring... The "War Dept." has put her foot down and I have to earn some $$ to pay for the power bill this winter... So I am chopping up the vanilla orchid to make cuttings and have divided the Nun's Cap Orchid to sell then also..
I have 6 electric heaters going this year.. :-(
ok enough to much info.. LOL
So back to brugmansia.. my V. peach Mama plant has 15 blooms open. Oh how the perfume is concentrated....
Larry
sorry just running my mouth> I had to put my oldest cat to sleep this am. He is burried in his favorate sunning spot in the front yard.
Sorry to hear about your cat.It is alot of work for a new cat to train you to do things the way they want ,luckily they are patient animals and always willing to remind you.
I have a cousin near Writesville Beach. He spent a lot of time nailing up the plywood this year. He said the storm season was not as bad as in the past, just moreof it.phil
That's an impressive collection, Larry! I think you should start posting some pictures of your plants in the greenhouse so that we can get the drool going more...lol.
:) Donna
