Have many hibiscus blooming under lights in basement.
Fiesta
I have many blooming in the greenhouse.
Hibiscus had lots of big blooms for me all summer, when weather was rotten and nothing else bloomed.
Basement 62-72 degrees all the time, with dbl. florescent lights, almost like having a GH. Have not trimmed any back yet, as they are still blooming(like the energizer bunny). Bet you are enjoying seeing yours' bloom also?

For the last month the GH has been staying around 41* at night and getting up to 75* to 80* in the day. I miss all my flowers in the yard. So I will go into the GH and look at all them, they still need watering about once a week, but they are blooming like crazy, and yes I really do enjoy it. They did good this summer out in the heat and sun, but I think they are thriving much more now in the GH. I am just hoping they make it through winter. Hibiscus is one of my most favorite flower there is.

Gloria, Lovely blooms that you have posted recently.
I have a few blooms on mine inside, but many of the large ones went into a major shock once brought inside. I have stored tropical hibiscus inside for several years and have never had them drop leaves and look so badly, so quickly. Oh well, maybe it's a sign to buy new ones in the spring!!!
Hope you didn't bring in some spider mites, Nat? DH sprayed every month all summer for mites, first year I haven't had them killing everything. I am seeing a few aphids inside tho', next will be whiteflies, usually have them in winter when I keep lights on and plants growing. Sigh...always something for us plant lovers.
I sprayed with Avid before I brought them in to prevent mites. I suspect that the sudden change in weather, followed by being brought inside just sent them into shock. It was abnomally hot here for a long time, then abruptly turned cold.
I know - - I have a few aphids and whiteflies also. So, most things are getting a weekly spraying with insecticial soap. I do have the things that are the most pest resistant separate from the things that I have to fight pests on. I made a mistake last year in starting seeds in the same area where I was fighting fungus gnats - - never again! All seeds are started in sterile soil in a completely separate area from now on!!
This one is common in Calif, but I can't find one, I had it in my yard out west and they used them along the parking in many places. Very orange and very nice.
