Got another dog!!!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Total: 5 Dogs now!
He's adorable chocolate lab ( male) who been around here for a while more than 4 weeks. He had several ticks, kinda skinny. We have been feeding him and he's gained weight and look better. We removed ticks. We thought it was for people who lives across the road who asked us if we have seen choc lab (female). We went there and asked.. They said no they had female that was lost during hurricane Rita. The fence fell down. The dog got lost so they got a new yellow pup( female). They are cops. That dog was male. I checked newspapers.. Most was out of town or across the bridge far away.. There's few dead dogs on the road. Sad to see that.. I asked around here.. Our yellow Lab Teddy and that dog we called Rusty been playing together, nap together.. He's loveable, non barking unlike Teddy does. I think he's about one year old and half. Young pup. Down the road my friends who have choc labs.. I asked them about that dog. It's not their. During those weeks, we started attached to him. We let Teddy and Rusty stay in the garage for the nights due cold. They both sleep together. Teddy already neuntred. Rusty not. If no one claim him then we will get him fixed but first I will ask vet to check if he have the micro chip or not. Good idea.. If so. we will call the owner.. , ask them about that dog and ask some question .. even ask them if they want that dog back if not, we would love to keep him. We dont want to send him to the shelter and know he would end up quickly. He doesn't deserve to be there. There are full of dogs/cats that are homeless from Hurricane Katrina and Rita. WHy should he be there? NO way. He deserve to have good home and loveable family.

Stranger, Rusty was kinda scary of men.. but exciting to see me or my daughter. I suspected that whoever tried to abuse or shoot him to get away. DH have been trying to make him trust and friend. Now Rusty accepted and likes to push his head agaist Dh's leg. He follows Teddy to the road every mornings with my kids and waiting with them for the school bus. When my kids get on the bus. Teddy turns around and walked back home. Rusty followed. We have long drive away. Rusty follows Teddy where he goes.

Here's "Rusty" and our Teddy. The kids named him Rusty but like to have other name if we keep him.
