This mornings visitors!

It's hazy out and threatening to rain. The hummingbirds are going nuts around here. So I thought I would try my hand at getting a pic of some that frequent my yard. I know there are at least 3 males...so I thought I would get close to the feeder and see if one would fly in to feed at the feeder. It didn't take long before this guy showed up...maybe 1 minute LOL and he was squeeking at me like nothing I ever heard and I felt another hummer by my head...guess they didn't like me too close to the feeder. BUT I got a pic!!!!!!!!! I was so happy...and the camera actually caught the color of the hummingbird! I forget which one has the fuchsia colored head. I'm just really happy to have had this opportunity since I'm not very patient in the summer to sit out in the heat waiting :-)

They may be a little fuzzy...I was trying not to be a spaz as I'm taking these pics LOL

Pictured below is when he first landed...........

Up close and personal...that's when I decided I should scoot and let him be besides he was guarding his feeder. I could hear the other males buzzing around my head. I'm guessing they're males because they are very colorful. I see the females all the time but they never hang around for a pic or even let me get this close

Look at his red head. He is going to be quite the babe magnet. Mating season is upon us now and the antics have begun.

Oh so that's what all the commotion is about! Thanks frogsrus! I just read that the Anna's move up into the hills during the summer because of the heat and then come back to the valley in the winter. They're the only hummingbird that is unusual that way because they don't actually migrate.

They will zoom straight up the length of a football field, let out an amazing chirp and then zoom down again. My extra feeders go out now to fuel their antics and then for tired mamas. They are indiscriminate breeders and do not stay in pairs so the commotion goes on and on and on................
