Wow! Thank you for posting her, Susie! I definitely see the resemblance that you were talking about. Lookie what I found! I found a triple on her today. Does Tiara get triples?

Oh, boy, oh, boy, I can play the name game - I have Tiara and she bloomed too, I'm doing the happy dance!!!! Both of yours are beautiful, I'm not sure mine was that pretty but she smelled like heaven and she has a pod!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Cool, Sherry! Congrats!

Edited to fix error! Sorry Sherry!

I don't remember seeing a triple on Tiara. I'll have to pay more attention. Your seedling just gets prettier every day.

Sniff, I cannot find a photo of Tiara, shoot!! I'm not sure she was as pretty as the CC girls', but her scent was outstanding!! Thanks, Ada, I adore her!!

A pod on her is great though, Sherry! Do you know the cross? You may get nice dark doubles!!!

So pretty Susie and Clare. You both have winners there.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Congrats Congrats!! These posts are making me crazy. I have GOT to get some of those! I think about these beautiful things all day!

Welcome to Dave's and to the Brug Forum ZZs. We all have been in that same boat. I have dreamed of brugs in the past! LOL. They have a way of captivating you.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Sorry, Sherry. I called you Shirley above. Didn't get enough sleep last night! I edited the post above:-)

Susie, if she is nameworthy, I was thinking of "Sweet Duchess" or "Duchess Girl" or just "Duchess" after my Great Dane who died last January. Everyone here at the brug forum helped me cope with her death when I was so distraught. What do you think of that name? I don't know anything about etiquette and whether I am allowed to name her or you are as the hybridizer so correct me if I am assuming things. Yes, I agree with you that she is getting prettier all the time!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Oh, Clarene, that's okay, lol!!! Kell, Tiara was unusually secretive about her blooms, I had no idea they were there until my nose led me to them and the bees hovering around her - it was obvious that they beat me to her. All I know is that the pollen is from a named brug, could be anyone of many. The pod is in the GH, I have no clue if it will ripen there, although I had a Pink Favorite that did ripen, but the seeds are small...maybe PF seeds are always small, my first season with ripe pods...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Have you tried to germinate those seeds yet, Sherry? What color were they? I have had small seeds once I think and off hand I can't think of the Mother. I wonder if the pod took a turn for the worse and if that is why they are so small. Can you post a pic of them if you haven't germinated any of them?

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Sherry, peel the cork off one of the seeds and see if it has a seed inside.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Sherry, good luck with those Tiara seeds. They could be something awesome!

Crumpler, WV

Sherry, the parents of Pink Favorite are: insignis pink x suaveolens pink. Suaveolens cultivars have very small seeds. The seeds are not as nearly as large as the aurea type brugs. And with the seeds being so small it makes it kind of hard to peel them, but it can be done.

Hope this helps,

David

i just love DOUBLES! susie, clare, both are gorgeous! TRIPLE? bring them on.

super ecstatic today with what sherry sent me, and some doubles i ordered from europe arrived, too! i hope i don't kill them.

sherry, best of luck!

thanks for the info, david.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That is so interesting, David!! But since Tiara is the mother, wouldn't the seeds follow her looks like the pods do? I notice all my pods on a certain brug all look a like regardless of who the father is of each pod.

So are you saying, the seeds from each pod change depending on who the father is? I have never heard that. So interesting. Though again, it is my experience that the seeds from a certain brug are very similar in each pod regardless of the father. Though I have never taken notes, it is just my impression looking back.

I try not to cross with suavs so I am not that familar with their pods. Have you only noticed that the seeds follow the father's looks when using suavs as the pollen donor on a non suav mother or on all your crosses?
THANKS

Crumpler, WV

Kell, Going on the best of my memory, which is not the greatest, I think it was Bruno that noticed that the shape and size of the pod can be influenced by the pollen donor. I think that Susie also noticed this too.

But, Sherry was talking about the seeds from Pink Favorite being small, not seeds from Tiara. She is still waiting on the pod to ripen on Tiara.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh....... LOL! So true. I was thinking Tiara, visions of some new doubles muddled my mind. I am like Annapet, bring them on! LOL And here I thought you had discovered something fun to find out who the ?s are in all those X ?. LOL

Oh Bruno, a name from the past. I hope he is having a great time in Ireland. Have you heard from him lately? He was such a nice young man, keenly interested in his experiments.. I will have to ask Susie and be more aware myself!!

Clare, I remember Duchess and I think that's a great name for this brug. When I give away or sell my seeds the person getting them can name any seedlings whatever they like.
David and Kell, it was the Rosamond pods that I first noticed were diferent depending on which pollen I used. I only used three different pollens and tagged each pod. They were all pollinated the same week, so they should have grown pretty much identical to each other.

Premont, TX(Zone 9b)

Susie , keep me in mind for the seeds.I will be gald to buy some from you

Gosh, I didn't know brugs of any kind could be imported. Where did you get yours Moonglow??

Corte Madera, CA

now, i'm arranging a brug field trip to germany. who's with me?!

=)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Very interesting Susie, I am going to watch mine closer to see if I notice a difference. Off hand, I can't say I have.

LOL Annapet, lets all go!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Here are my Pink Favorite seeds. David, I LOVE to peel seeds and I'll try to peel these, but, my goodness, they are itsy bitsy, kinda like zennia seeds. I am going to plant some, just to see if they will sprout...Pink Favorite bloomed every day from June 23, until a few weeks ago.

This is my Tiara pod today. It's sweet and not really big, but seems healthier than the PF pod, which was my first ever to ripen, so I ain't no 'xpert..........if today isn't the 30th, my digi is acting up again...

Pink Favorite has a lot of suaveolens, right? I think so, but I may be wrong, I have been once before, lol. Suaveolens seeds are very tiny, Sherry, and I never peeled them, they were too tiny to peel.

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Annapet, I'm with you...... but wouldn't that cause a little stress in my marriage? LOL First I start spending the bucks on eBay to get brugs I lusted after. (Who was it that called it Evil Bay?!) Then I convince him to sweat and bang nails to make me a greenhouse. Now I've got to tell him that I want to travel half way around the world to drool over more brugs?! LOL I wonder if I'd be pushing my luck just a little. Still, July or August in Germany sounds heavenly. Tee hee! Now if I could convince him that we could fly our plane over there he just might go for it. That'd be one long flight in a small plane.

Mary

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Yes, Mary, she is 1/2 suave, I think, and I also think I've heard that suaves are not favored; however, she bloomed all summer, every day from June 23 until just a few weeks ago. If she dares to misbehave, I'll whack her down with a hatchet, that should learn her, huh??!! Yeah, lol, I was wrong once, I believe in Feb of 1985...

Corte Madera, CA

sherry, i received some seeds (seed bank) and they are itsy-bitsy, too. nothing has happened yet, while kell's seeds are up and happy already. rooting for your tiara!

mary, that is so sweet, building you a green house and all. the trip to germany in your own plane would be so romantic!

ack! suav seeds are tiny? my white suav seedling no. 1 (wild from brazil, yeah --- marketing ploy) is growing a pod.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I received some tiny seed last year and not a single one sprouted, while Kell's grew to the size of fence posts...
