I'm at my local shelter twice a week. I know that many of the dogs that go in there do not come out alive. It's a sad fact but true. Sometimes though it catches me off guard. Today was one of those days. I left there in tears! He snarls and shows his teeth when a man passes his cage.
It breaks my heart. I wish I new what happened to this dog to make him hate men so much. What tales could he tell? What life did he live? Did he grow up protecting someone, a women? Did he have to protect her? Could he grow to like men? Could he be re-trained? If only they could talk. Last but not least, I'd like to know why he was dumped off by his owner!
For once I left the shelter feeling defeted. There is nothing I can do to help this dog and my heart breaks into a million pieces for him. If you could see how he looked at me. Begging to be helped- saved. I had to walk away. Say a little prayer for him if you can.
