Vintage African violets what are you growing ? I enjoy the History of Av's. I also like to help keep the older ones growing and sharing them with others to grow and have more chance of keeping the Vintage violets around. Many of them grow better than the new ones.
Are you growing any Vintage Violets ?
Each box I send out I am trying to put a Vintage AV in with a History :))

Vintage African violets what are you growing ?
I love the Vintage Violets and am getting a small but respectable collection together.
I fell in love with all the older violes becasue the first booklet I read was about 20 years old and all the pics were so pretty...at least at the time I thought they were gorgeous! That was before I found the AVSA photo site..lol
I have been amazed at how so many of the older violets resemble the newer ones, too.So if I can't find the exact one I want I know I can find a similar look in a new one.
I have a few you might know:
Whisper Blue
Firebird
Lamb's Ear
Windy Day
All are setting buds at the moment & I hope to post a few pics of them soon.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head..but it's not a bad start...

Whisper Blue is a wonderful Vintage at one time lost. It has gone for mighty high prices on Ebay. I paid a lot for a leaf and it died on me :((.
Lamb's ear is an awsome trailer I sent it to my friend Sharon, it died so I've been looking for another one. I think Violet Gallery has one.
Oh Firebird is breath taking !
Windy Day is so pretty with the green in the flowers. Another Special one . I don't think it's Vintage yet it's from year 1992
Your Vintage collection is great !
Oh that Firebird blooms are breathtaking !
Allison
Whisper Blue is a little too green for me right now but i hope with a lil more time the variegation will return. I watered it with the wrong fertilizer and turned it a nice shade of green:(
Lamb's Ear is booming right now and growing strong so I hope to be able to share soon, too.
Windy Day may not be a Vintage Vviolet "YET" but it sure looks like it with it's frilly blooms & curley leafs...lol Sorry about that, guess I should keep up on the dates a lil better.
MsC
I'm excited to hear about Windy Day. I purchased leaves about 8 week ago and I have several plantlets growing. Can you post a picture?
Nanna
Sorry MsC I did not mean to say the date in a wrong way. There are no mistakes with Av's. I learn a lot more about them each day. And I'm always ready :))
Don't forget I don't have a lot to do anymore .
I have leaves down of Jason, some of Champion's Av's and Volkman's. I still have a White Butterfly plant and leaves down. some trailing oes. I keep giving them away I need to make a list someday but as soon as I make a list it all changes. lol
Anyone else growing any Vintage African violets ??
Allison
Allison,
No problem really...lol
I just was thinking how frilly it looks and included it without checking it's description.. I just love the way it looks .
I do wish I could find a trailer called "Crafty Farmer" and there was one called "Softique" I thought was pretty, too.
I hope I'm not dissappointed in Firebirds blooms the pic I have is so pretty andI'm really looking forward to seeing it bloom too.
I'll keep ya posted.
Nanna I posted a pic of Windy Day a while back... let me see if Ican find the pic or the link...
here ya go..

Gorgeous! Can hardly wait.

Some pictures of Windy Day I've seen have the white edge and some green. The description does say Semidouble medium blue star /
white-green ruffled edge. Windy Day is beautiful ! It grows very large :))
Allison
Looks a little like the EverFloris series by Optimira. I have EverSpecial.
Nanna
