I was in San Francisco this past Sept., and happened to have timed it perfectly to hit the UC Berkeley Arboretum Annual Plant Sale. The sale was amazing, and I picked up some beautiful plants (lapageria, bomarea, hoyas!). Anyway, one of the hoyas I picked up was marked "h. mosaica." (picture below) I have searched every site I can find, and cannot find this guy anywhere. I'm beginning to think h. mosaica doesn't exist! The hoya I can find that looks the closest to my hoya is h. polyneura - that'd be my "newbie" guess. Can you guys help me out on this one? Is it h. mosaica? If not, is my guess close?? Is this another case of misnamed hoyas?? Thanks for your help! Karen
ID help, please
Karen, I think of polynurea as the appropriate guess. Actually, I think your guess is right. I have never heard of the mosaica. Where do they get these names lol! Good luck with this one, it sure is a cutie!

I think both you ladies hit the nail on the head! How neat, Karen, that you found a Hoya. Way to grow!!!
Welll....I guess the rule is...if you don't know the name...for goodness sake don't admit it....make one up!!!!
Nice find!!!

Itīs a polyneura, it is a lovely plant. Very easy to take care of, want to have some temperature difference to bloom. My is living in a big north facing window, and have just bloomed, beautiful flowers :)
I forgot one important thing with this plant, it donīt want to have warmth on the roots. So in a window without heating under, or in a basket is the best way to take care of this hoya.

Oh Marie, that is one gorgeous bloom cluster! Looks like big fat persimmon seeds sitting on a star. Thanks so much for posting the picture. I've just added another one to my "Must Have" list.

Thanks, Marie - how inspiring to see a picture of the flowers!!! I will follow your advice and take the bottom heat away! Thanks - Karen
