H. Cembra plus a few pics

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

It is so hard taking a picture that does H. cembra justice!!! Her branches are all about 2-3' long, gracefully spreading out from the pot, and there are clusters of blooms at almost every node....and it has been this way for a month!!! I have never had so many blooms on her!!! It rained every day or night for almost 3 months...and she must've loved it!!! I was able to get enough contrast with the background so the flowers show up.... And the fragrance knocks your socks off!!!

Here is a sweet Tillansia blooming in the tree off the front porch where it is growing with Dischidia, orchids and ferns! Yes...it IS very fragrant, too. The blue flower comes out of a bright pink bract....

Just finished reorganizing the GH - and here's a picture of it before it gets stuffed full. The right side gets more light...but both sides do well. I finished putting up the shelves you see along the back of the bench...this gives me room to put MORE plants. The whole GH is arranged alphabetically....a-l on the right and l-w on the left, plus the Dischidia and those that have just left the heatmats all potted up. The little cart on the right I use to put pots and trays on when I am repotting in place. Photo was taken at 2p.m. on a bright sunny day.

Oh Carol, you have been working very hard! I guess my visit was a major distraction from the greenhouse. She is looking ready for more plants now!

Did you ever get the epi's planted up in the trees?

Hmmmmm.... So, Carol, what are those pretty plants you have hanging in the middle of your GH???

groan ;) ........I've gotta win the lottery and move to Hawaii!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Susan...Yes, you were a wonderful, heavensent blessed distraction!!! The Prop. mats are full so shortly all the empty space will be filled up!!!

Ann...curiously enough...all those hanging in the center are hoyas...can you believe it?

Nope, the epis aren't in the trees yet!!! Julian coming over tomorrow and I am going to prune the big tree just off the lanai (so he can carry away the detrius) and I will stick a lot up on the tree...along with all the hoyas growing up there now!!! Susan...waiting for you to come back and help me!!!

Funny about cembra... I've never had so many blooms either! It's been crazy for the past few weeks and the fragrance is lovely... Here's a little photo help for you, Carol.

Carol you are so blessed to have such an ideal place to grow your plants outdoors. They all seem to love it there, as they are rewarding you with such beautiful flowers even if they are up 20'. Do any of them bloom lower? I know I sure would enjoy a morning walk looking to see what it is bloom on a daily basis.

You are the luckiest woman on earth!!!
