Anyone's pets ever embarass them?

Yesterday my DH's daughter called, she was in from Atlanta with her twin daughters, age 7, who were dying to see the dogs. I had a hour to brush all 5 dogs, run the vacum, swipe a dust cloth over everything, light a candle, you all know the drill. Ran an errand, and pulled up in the driveway the same time she did. Opened the door to the house.......And walked into the biggest pile of Porter poop (never done this before, was the last thing on my mind) you ever saw. He is the size of a pony and poops accordingly. The stench was all over the house, mixed with - get this - pumpkin spice candle. I was horrified, and told her he'd NEVER done anything like this before! She was understanding, but we only see her a couple of times a year, and this was NOT the impresson I wanted my doggies to make. People tell me I'm crazy to have so many dogs, and I wanted everyone to think this household ALWAYS runs smoothly. Anybody else been cut down to size by their darlings?
