Honeeeey, I'm Hooooooome!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I'm a newbie here.. and found my home! I have yet to participate much, since I am sooo new and want to learn the "ropes" first... I'm not one to jump in blind. But you all have to hear this... SOMEONE has to hear this! LOL
When I discover one of my seeds with a teeny tiny sprout.. I run around looking for someone to tell... When I see a root on a cutting, I'm on the phone searching for someone to listen.
When I get home from running errands with a pocket full of seed pods.. it's just tooooo quiet around here!
No one understands the thrill that is exploding in my heart for these awesome gifts of Nature. I find myself sounding like a salesman trying to explain my joy to anyone who will listen! Bless you DG for giving me this place! I have told everyone I found a support group for my obsession!
I don't have a big home and a lot of room to plant, but it's all there in my heart.
Thank you to all of you for this awesome place and giving me so much before I've even participated here! (other than lurking of course)

Hi there ZZ and a big welcome to you. :-)

I feel exactly the way you do also. Most of my family think I'm crazy when I tell them about a new plant I found that is rare or traded seeds from 3000 miles away and that they are heirlooms.

I have a small area also, but I have it cramed in pretty good. If a plant doesn't perform likes it's suppose to, OUT it goes to make room for another beauty that has caught my eye. hehe

I've been a member here for 5 yrs. and have made so many new garden friends and have shared many of my garden news with them. I have also learned so much here....more than I could ever read in all the magazine on the shelves.

Now that you have introduced yourself, just jump right in and join our discussions and we will be very understanding of your excitement of plants and seeds.

See ya around the garden,
Donna...your CA neighbor

Thank you Donna!
At first, I was a little hesitant to post my own welcome, LOL But then I thought of how nice it is to read a "newbie's" excitement and enthusiasm, and thought I might give someone a smile.

Thank you too Herbie!

I have 2 jobs, so I can't be here as much as I want to.. but I know it's always here, and I run to the computer when I get home.

Hello and welcome - you have joined a group of really great folks who not only share your interests and enthusiasm but are truly kind souls, too! I am still a newbie since I didn't get to do much to my home this past spring before my husband and I separated, so now I am in my own home and am starting over. But I am looking at it as a blank canvas - what wonderful things can I grow? If you run into something you don't understand or need advice, just post the question and believe me you'll get tons of helpful answers. And I totally understand what you mean about being so excited about new seeds. I have an armload of catalogs now that I am marking up, planning on what I will be ordering for the spring! Happy New Year!
