candied sweet potato recipe?

Does anyone have an old recipe for candied sweet potatoes? Every recipe that I have doesn't taste like the kind that my grandmother fixed when I was young. I want the old fashioned "candied" kind, not the mushy with marshmallow on top which is what everyone fixes these days. I would appreciate you sharing. Thanks, Jenny
