Japanese Morning Glory 'Silky Blue' (Ipomoea nil)
Emma,
yours seems to be a more greyish color than mine... Is this just lighting? Beautifully silky bloom too!

Hi Zem,
I did notice that your blooms were a bit darker.
I never did get back to reading the Thread that I missed - just glanced through it and thought that strange that your vines produced dark seeds.
My Blooms I would describe as a 'Dusty-Bright Blue'.
If you have enough to share I would love to have a few to compare with mine. You can do the same thing. Do you still have any seeds that I sent you originally with the Cream colored seeds?
If you do not, I can send you only a very few. I didn't get many seeds from mine this year because a neighborhood dog got out and decided to dig up almost all of my SB vines :-(
What few seeds that I did get this year are again creamy white.
The photos that I posted on the Database were from last year because I haven't yet put my Hundreds AND Hundreds of photos together that I took this year. However, I was looking for a couple of photos that I needed to set up on eBay and came across a couple of the few Silky Blue Photos and they are IDENTICAL as what I grew in 2004 and 2003.
Let me go back and find them again, and I'll attach for you to compare.
Emma
Hmmm, I definately have a brighter blue sport of this. I have PLENTY of seeds of the darkseed version, definately enough to send some (however only lightseeded silkyblue seed left got mixed into Joseph's Blue Silk :(! I really don't want to take more than two or three seeds of yours, as you don't have many...
Your "stash" :) is growing though... so glad that I have something to give back to you after how generous you've been :)

Is this still what you're interested in?
-Passiflora cuttings
-JMG 'sayaka'
-JMG 'feathered Umi'
-JMG 'silky blue (black seeds)
-JMG 'sunsmiles'
Hi Zem,
Yes, what you have listed, and from my 'wish list' that I have notes on I would also like any of these that you have enough seeds of to share.
Purple Variant from Plum Frost
Heian No Umi
Blue Purpurea that you got from seeds I sent you of Lilac
Very Pale Blue that you posted that you thought was from 'Silky Blue'
convolvulus sepium
Chachamaru - If you got enough seeds to share. Mine did not produce ONE single pod. Wonder why!
In addition to seeds of 'Silky Blue'
I also have a note to send you seeds of
Ipomoea lacunosa 'Small White'
Was there anything else that I have that you are wanting?
I'm sure I will find lots of others to toss in as well.
Thanks bunches,
Emma
OK, here is what I can do :)
-Sayaka (mixed with CCM)
-Feathered Umi
-SB (dark seed)
-Purple PlumFrost variant
-ChaChaMaru
-some other MG seeds collected this year
I can do Convolvulus sepium next year. It grows like crazy in Rhode Island as a weed. I didn't collect seeds because I didn't think anone would want these :) But I'll have plenty!
I might be able to get you sunsmiles if I can find my seeds (jeesh I'm so disorganized!)
As to passiflora cuttings, I have tulae, arida, and caerulea available right now. If you were interested in seeds, I have oerstedii, subpeltata, foetida alba, a few unknowns, and tons of incarnata alba.
JMG-Heian no Umi... the parent seeds to my shredded variation came from Cat (puddyprint) last year... I only have one left (to grow out) If this produces a normal vine next year, I'll count you in for seeds.
my wish list: (this is just a list of all the MGs I want... if you can send a few, good :), if not, no biggie :)
Ipomoea lacunosa
Ipomoea jalapa
Silky blue
Nettie mae (white version)
Shredded white
Mauve frost
Gray Smoke
Plum frost star
Purple hazy smokey JMG

Hey Zem,
Let me figure out what is what. I am still organizing my seeds. Most I know what they are, but I have my seeds sorted by numbers and am still putting them together.
I will tell you one that I do not have seeds of is this one.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1727180
This is from a photo from last year that I grew and I never could figure out which seeds they are. I do think I did get only a couple of seed pods, but also believe they are mixed in with other seeds - which is only a few that I planted really late that year. I was going to plant all of those seeds next year to see if one will hopefully be this bloom.
The package that the bloom came from was from seeds FROM JAPAN in a mix called 'Heian Giant Flowered MIX'. Also, I never have found out the name for it. It is awesome isn't it.
I'll write you back when I get these together.
Thanks Zem,
Emma
lol, Emma, I probably don't have one tenth the number of seeds you have but mine are probably much less organized. I had them under an ID system last year but that kinda fell apart :)
Anyway, thanks soooooooooo much :) I reeeeeeeally must calm myself down with this "see it, want it, gotta have it" behavior :)
Emma, boy do you need a website :) You've got soooo many of these beauties and most people never get to see them (they don't know what they're missing, lol) However you might get swamped with more mad seedhounds like me ;)
Thanks ever so much,
Zem
PS: in this PlanFiles entry, would you like me to credit this hybrid to you i.e. "Introduced by Emma Hill" ? I'd need more information about the year of it's creation also :)
Hi Zem, I think you already have.
First year grown was 2003
I probably will set up a website soon,
at least it would help me with looking for certain photos.
Heck, I can't even get the time to get them organized -
but I'm getting 'closer' to that task....lol
Emma
Emma,
guess what, I've found adzooks of cream seeds all over my Rhode Island vines... I really have no Idea where the huge black seeds came from... :/ Odd. I'll still send some blackseed silkyblue NOTs if you'd like. I currently believe them to be hatsu arashi of rosesilk.
