Brugcrazy gave me this plant last November. It was a seedling she grew that got broken off in a storm before it ever bloomed. This is its first bloom which opened on November 13th. It has a really nice scent and very thick, velvety leaves.

That's a beauty! Lucky you!!
:) Donna
Everything about that one is beautiful. I like the color and form of the flower, plus the leaves are richly textured. Very nice indeed.
Barb
Oh, wow, looks like she LOVES where she lives, she is very pretty!!
Thanks everyone. I was curious to know how it compares with other orange brugs.
Sandy, that is really pretty! And I'm also admiring the foliage, it's go green and lush! (And no bug bites anywhere) You look like you're a really good brug Momma! Which cross is this? I love the low calyx.
The color and shape are beautiful.
Yummy ;-)
It's Avalon x Velvet Lady.
Very pretty.
Very Nice! Such a rich color for this time of year also. I see you also had a mild fall to enjoy the blooms so late. Seems like if it blooms during the summer months it will be a darker orange.
I'm begining to love the horizontal blooms I have seen on many of the brugs this year. Thanks for sharing.
I love it. The color is great. Congrats on getting the cutting and the blooms. I'd love to have some that would hold their blooms that long.
I really like this one!! One of the better orange ones that I have seen. I love the way she holds herself.
Very nice color! You've got a beauty!
Thanks. I have it in the solarium because we have had a few mornings with frost.
Very pretty !! I love the brugs. that get that waxy look about them.
oh, i love this one, too!
patricia, nicely put. had to no idea how to describe that, and "waxy" it is. i've always liked brugs that have that look. does it happen because the corollas are thicker?
You are one lucky gardener to have such a beautiful Brug blooming now!! I bet her color will even deepen more during the Summer!! Please keep us informed!!!
I was wondering if anyone else has brugs that have either Avalon or Velvet Lady in them. I'm curious because I haven't seen either name mentioned and haven't been able to find much information on them.
That's really pretty. No, I haven't seen either of those mentioned in crosses either. Do you remember the hybridizer?

Avalon ...............

no info except it was the pod parent of Champagne Fizz . CF was grown by Brugie and released in 2004
Velvet lady ................

looks like it never was released. Judging from the pictures only I can see why. IMO
Someone should come along that has more info.

I take it you have not had frost there yet. Is it potted so you can bring it inside or will you have to take cuttings?
We have had frost a few times. The plant has been inside in the solarium for about a month. The solarium is heated so the minimum temperature is 15 C (59 F). I won't be able to put any of the brugs back outside until at least April.
You are lucky , Our frost free date is June 1
Mine is May 15. I know that seems late for a southern state, but we are up in the Appalachians.
April is pushing it a bit here actually, because we still can get some frost until the full moon in April. I think I'll only put out the ones that are in the garage. I read somewhere that the dormant ones can take cooler weather than ones that have been kept growing over the winter. I haven't done it before though, so maybe somebody who has can add some of their experiences with that. I won't bring the ones in the solarium out until May 1st. It can get pretty warm in the solarium in the spring so they'll be pretty tender.
Thanks for the links....they are the only information I had found as well.
Sandy It's wonderful, what great colour for this time of year. Love the colour and form. I'd say it's a keeper.
nightowl,
...............Hope it keeps performing well for ya.
Maybe after another year she will pass muster and be honored with a name.
mg99 ,
it takes a lot more than just a pretty face (flower) to make a good new brug.
It could take anywhere from 2 to 4 years to make sure we have a solid plant.
