I just moved to zone 9b and am planting a butterfly/hummingbird garden. I need the following plants: Lantana camara and keyenesis; Firebush (hamelia patens); Penta lanceolate (red and pink); salvia greggii, salvia elegans, salvia coccinea; salvia guaranitica; and sedum spectabile (red). Since I am just establishing a garden in Florida (came from Massachusetts) I don't have any plants to trade but do have the following: New packaged pill holder boxes, pill alarms, decorating and gardening books, old knitting books. I am a retired nurse practitioner with special knowledge in herbals and vitamins for various health problems and would be more than willing to trade information for plants too. Thanks so much in advance!! Karen
Wanted: Butterfly Garden Plants Central Florida
HI, I have the sedum-but it is frozen in-please catch me in the spring.
Hoping that you enjoy your new home.
Marcia
Thanks Marcia! Karen
Don't stop there Karen.LOL
You need duranta, asclepis, tithonia, pentas, porterweed, jatropha to name a few. Oh yea, almost forgot about vines if you have room for them. Passionflowers, honeysuckle, cypress vine, etc.

Lol Jan, gotta start somewhere. Penta is there and Passionflower vine is in the cards too. Got any to trade? Karen
I have salvia coccinea and tithonia in seeds and have Hamelia Patens, duranta, asclepias,
porterweed & jatropha either in plants or cuttings that I can root. Let me know what you have in garden books. Cassia alata is another must for the sulfurs if you have room or keep it trimmed back.
I would LOVE the salvia and Hamelia. Would you be willing to trade for any of the items I listed above? I have a tiny bit of land (9ft by 28 ft) so that is why I am being so careful what I plant. I want a vine for the fence behind my lot, but do not want to plant anything invasive so I thought the Passionflower would be best. Karen
I'll send you a D-mail
I currently have some honeysuckle vine that I can get you. And in a couple weeks or so I should have seeds for Moonflower Vine. I would give you a cutting of Lantana but I still have to figure out how to root it. I have a red and a creamy one. I will try again this weekend for you. If I find anything else, I will let you know and put it all in a box for you.
Thanks and welcome to Florida! I myself am a transplant from NY for about 15 years now and I really love it here. Storms and all!
Good luck! Ana
I'd love the honeysuckle..is it cape or coral? I don't have anywhere to put the Moonflower vine. Lantana would be wonderful!! I am from NY originally (The Bronx). Karen
Karen,
I forgot what kind it is, but it is the plain vanilla variety. Trumpet, I believe. It smells delicious and you really cant kill it. As for the moonflower, you could even put it in a pot and let it grow up a dracena or something. Mine has managed to spring from seed from a plant 2 years ago and it caught a frond of my Pygmy Date Palm so now my palm has pretty white flowers in it! You could even let it sit in a mound on the ground, just let wind it up itself. They smell so clean and crisp and simply divine. You need some in your garden!
i have butterfly bushes if interested dmail me
I have some salvia seeds, Brenthurst, Maraschino, and a couple of others I've just collected from my plants over the summer. I could send you some of those...d-mail me if you still need some seeds. I also have a few other seeds, like foxgloves, etc. I try to grow stuff that attracts hummingbirds/butterflies so pretty much all I have is for that.
Lisa, I got the salvia seeds today and will plant tomorrow. Thanks SO VERY MUCH!! I am very excited to be getting my garden started. Karen
Great! I'll be sending the Pineapple sage on Monday. It's a small plant but it does grow fast. Mine is blooming right now. I'll dmail when I send it :-)
I LOVE pineapple sage. Had it years ago as a house plant. It will be wonderful to have it outdoors! Karen
