Any one else with pet turtles? I had them growing up and always wanted more so when a friend offered me some, who could say no. 2 of her adult red ears layed eggs and 14 babies hatched. In addition to the 4 babies I took, I also took 1 adult male and 2 adult females. I'm converting an unused chain link dog run to a turtle/fish habitat. It measures 6ft wide, 15 ft long and 6ft high with chain link top so they should be protected from the predators and my dogs. I have a prefab pond with spill over bog pond that I will be putting in the ground and then planting around it with native, edible plants. They are a real hoot to watch and I go out there in the evening after work and just sit there for a bit relaxing and feeding them. The 4 babies are inside in an aquarium until they are large enough to go out. They are getting friendlier all the time and no longer run and hide when I come in the room. They are starting to associate me with FOOD. LOL. Here are some pics I just took.
