I'm making many of my presents this year, how about you?

Kernersville, NC(Zone 7a)

I am working hard on my Christmas presents this year. I'm embroidering tote bags, making scarves, crocheting dishclothes and some other things. My biggest project is a first for me. I'm knitting an afghan for my mother in law. I am such a slow knitter, I have never attempted a big item like this. I decided to use big needles and 2 strands of yarn worked together. It is working out pretty well, nice and fluffy. My biggest challenge is that I have never used circular needles before and they are too short for the work, so it is bunched up and I won't be able to see how it really looks until I get it done. Yikes! I'm doing a basketweave pattern because I have limited knitting abilities (I can knit and purl, nothing more advanced).

Anyway, here is a picture of what I got done on it so far tonight. I'm going to keep posting updates to keep me going on it. Any advice would be appreciated and I would love to hear what gifts you are working on for ideas!
