It has taken all season for these seeds to rippen. This is a bulbifer seed head with pollen from both konjac and paeonifolius on it. I hope and believe these to be hybrid seeds from that cross. It all goes well we may have easier to grow forms and new flowers to look at not to mention that konjac is very hardy. It will take sometime before I know as well as seeing a bloom is years down the road.
Amorphophallus hybrid seeds getting ready
How exciting, do you pick off the reds and let the greens and yellows ripen? Have you ever grown this type seed before?
Can other amorphophallus nuts beg on their hands and knees for a seed :)
Chris
I have grown Amorphophallus seed before. Their are a few hybrids I believe out there but I have not seen any Most are very hard to find. And yes Amorphophallus nuts can beg on their hands and knees for a seed, but I doubt it will help pry them out of my grasp for sometime. I may have to wait till they flower before I start releasing them which can take sometime but some may be sold before hand to growers who I think capable to get blooms fairly fast. These people will have to sign a contract to keep the plant from being released and other issues manly to protect me and my investment in the hybrid. If you are extremely crazed about getting one when I do this email me in the spring and I will tell you more info on it. THANKS
