Have fun. Still time to plant, but it's a little chilly here today--40 degrees and snow flurries...not exactly gardening weather, but a little extra planting now will pay off in the spring. Don't you think?!! LOL
Van Engelen/Scheepers 40% Off Sale Starts Today
I've got my order in - they had sold out quite a few varieties by the time I got there
at 10:30am. I did pick up a few goodies and now I'm hoping I can plant 'em during
a break in this wintery weather!
Hi, again, everybody,
If you're still interested in shopping, "Easy to Grow Bulbs" is offering a special discount off their Web Specials Just use the "VIP": code for discounts.
http://www.easytogrowbulbs.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=62
They say:
"To take advantage of our offer, all you have to do is add the items to your cart as usual and then enter in the code “VIP” when you come to the checkout section that says “Enter Discount Code here”. Any cart items from our Web Specials section will be discounted an additional 30% and you'll be able to see the adjusted costs on the final checkout page."
This is for the Web Specials section only, but there are some nice buys there.
They said I could share this with a few personal friends, and I think DGers qualify for that and I love "Easy to Grow Bulbs". Jon in their customer service department is the greatest and will answer all kinds of questions, especially if you want to grow bulbs in the Southwest, which is a touchy climate for many bulbs.
Do calla lilies make good houseplants?
I hope so! I found a couple of small bulbs in the bottom of an older pot when I was emptying it out.... I didn't remember what they were, but since they were starting to sprout a little, of course I potted them up... Now I think they look like Calla lilies, so the pot must've been one my neighbor left behind with me when she moved! I guess I'll treat it like a houseplant (since it can't very well go outside, LOL) and see what happens.
Gee---I think they sell them at Kroger at Eastertime, but I don't know about year 'round culture...
You could try. I have them in my garden and they have come back for two years without any help from me, though.
Good luck!
