What a lovely plant, first time I have seen it! Did you get it locally?

I am sure you can get it at the monthly Strybing Nursery sales here in San Francisco. It's growing all over Strybing Arboretum.

I have one of these that I got at Annie's Annuals a while ago. I think I may have seen them more recently at Berkeley Horticultural Nursery too

What about us folks back east? Where can we get it?

Annie's Annuals http://www.anniesannuals.com does mail order so if they have some in stock you could get it there, otherwise here are the companies in Garden Watchdog that sell fuchsias, I bet one of them might have it. http://davesgarden.com/gwd/advanced.php?category=109&submit=Go

Thanks so much. I hope it will thrive in my rainy climate

I don't know about the rain--I'm sure it would do fine with a bit more rain than we get here in CA but I'm not familiar enough with your climate to know if that would be too much for it. I don't think it'll like your winter temperatures though--it's only hardy in Zone 10-11 so you'd have to bring it inside.

I have gartenmeister and we bring them in every year. I am trying to root some cuttings from them now. This is where I trimmed 4 back and later used part of them to try to root. They are my all-time garden favorite. They handle sun or shade, rainy or dry. It is really rainy here in the summer, we will probably go over our average 80 inches of rain a year by quite a bit this year. Perhaps 100 inches. Eeek! a temperate rain forest. Then in September and October we were so dry that our well nearly went dry.
