Can anyone explain what polythene bags are, and how to find them. I keep seeing that name pop up concerning seed propagation. Thanks
Polythene Bags
used in Sandwich bags and cling wrap; do a google search and you will find places that sell these bags; what do you want them for? seeds?
It's either seed baggies or ziplock type bags,

If you intend to use them for seeds, then Walmart has them in the craft section far cheaper than what you can get them anywhere else. They have several sizes.
Sometimes they can be found in the dollar shops too... or in the OTC pills section in the pharmacy, described as pill pouches.

I have seen it mentioned several times as a cover for seeds after putting them in a growing medium and I just wondered why polythene as opposed to any other type of plastic.
Ok then, you're talking about plastic wrap. aka: saran wrap... etc.

The reason I asked is because I have seen on directions for valueseed.com to use polythene to cover the seed after its been sown into seed mulch. I thought maybe this specific type of plastic allowed more air to get through or something, just wasn't sure. If its Saran wrap, then I can just use that to cover the seeds.
Ok ansonfan, you got it then.
Try these links: I'm trying it this year too.
