Nice photo--do you grow them in the ground up there in PA? I just started some seeds in clay pots but I was thinking we get too much rain in winter and summer; but, after seeing yours--I'm rethinking that idea.

I keep them in pots that are 75% small stones. It's the perfect drainage. As soon as I see the foliage starting to yellow I stop watering the bulbs and don't start watering again until the middle of September. They like to be crowded so I've never lifted and moved some to another pot. This works for me. They are beginning to bloom now so there is no way I would ever be able to keep them in the ground here. Last night it was 9.

I'm assuming you keep them in a greenhouse? LOL

Again, just an outstanding pic from one who really appreciates the unusual bulbs. Would that bvbe like pea gravel mixed with potting soil?

Yes. I keep the pot in my kitchen and in the evening I move them to a room off the kitchen with no heat but it never gets below 50. I sometimes forget but they are forgiving, Without the cooler nights they don't put up flower buds. I think it is also important to keep them pot bound. I read if you disturbe the bulbs they won't bloom the following year. That is where I am now. The outside bulbs are really pushing against the rim of the pot.
