This is a new seedling grown from Monika's seed---Charleston x Rubirosa. We are going to call her Swingtime. I took some time off from here while I've been trying to heal up after having the fractured leg and then blood clots in my lungs and legs. It was a bad summer, but things are starting to look up. I've sure learned that sitting at a computer all day can cause problems with circulation.
Anyway, thanks to Monika for asking me to grow out this special seed cross. I'm looking forward to seeing her blooming again this next summer, plus all of the others that didn't quite make it to bloom.
A new seedling...Swingtime
OH! Major Wow! I hope you are progressing in your recovery. Glad to hear you are better.
Barb
OH MY what a lovely color, Brugie it is magnificent
That is outstanding Shirley....glad you're feeling better :)
shirley, wow! so fiery GORGEOUS! congratulations.
Hubba, hubba, Brugie, is past WOW!!! Very pretty, I love her color and shape, ruffled skirt and super tendrils, congrats to you and Monika!!! Is she fragrant??
Thanks everyone. Sherry, I couldn't get my nose up that high and probably wouldn't have tried since I was on crutches. You know how that goes. I had a golf cart in the yard, a loaner from Mailman, to use for getting around in the yard, but I wasn't a good driver. It scared me. I felt it was better to look from afar and let my watering lady just water and hope for the best. It must have been near two months that everything went without fertilizer and then I got a siphonject made by Dramm and she could fertilize everything for me. I always wanted to retire, but let me say.....it isn't that much fun when you have to retire. Next time, I hope it will be because I choose to.
Hi Shirley, glad to see you back. Swingtime is a real beauty Good job Monika.
Thanks Linda and thank you so much for taking over the User Names "sticky" thread. I really didn't have it in me to do it.
What a BEAUTIFUL brug!!!
This is one that I'm coming back to, I love her vivid color!!! Did you have her in sun/shade or both???
Awesome !! Beautiful color and shape. Can't wait for her to go public !! Hope you continue to heal and have a wonderful Thanksgiving! God bless, Margo
Welcome back! I have been thinking about you and wondering how you were getting along on the recovery road. That is a beautful brug. Hope to see more of her AND YOU very soon.
Shirley, I was glad to help out. It is getting to be quite a long list.
Sherry, she was in full sun, and I can remember smelling her just a little, but not like getting my nose right up to her. This picture was taken just before I found out that my leg had a fracture (it took three weeks), but I was already trying to help myself with the crutches because of the pain. Once I went to the Orthopod, all brugs didn't matter anymore. I even asked my DH to let them go ahead and die because I couldn't even get outside to enjoy them. It was his choice to keep them going and Mailman found me a lady that would come every day and water. If I don't remember some things about my summer, it's because I was and still am on some heavy pain meds for my back. Isn't life just great!!
I should thank my Granddaughter who stayed with me for a couple of weeks. Without her help I'm sure this one would be toast. She helped me with pictures a couple of times. I couldn't carry the camera and hobble across the yard at the same time. Shopping was really hard, but if I could hang on to a cart, I could get it done and I know now that it was probably good that I was up and moving around or those clots could have been much worse.
Renee and Steve came down from Wisconsin and helped get all the brugs into groups so watering would be easier. Renee did a lot of trimming and spraying for me. I thank them for all of their help. Jim watered many times around noon since this was a very hot summer for us and they had to be watered more than once a day. It was quite an experience....one I hope I never have to go through again. Renee can tell you how bad I was with that golf cart. It wasn't pretty. LOL!
You are right Crystal, clots are nothing to mess with and because of them and taking blood thinners, I can't take the arthritis meds. That's what I miss most.
Sorry I got long winded. I've just been away so long that I couldn't stop the fingers from walking all over the keyboard.

We missed you too, Shirley. So glad you're better and back. The cuttings you sent me are doing well and were most appreciated. I know it was difficult for you to do.
Brugie
I'm so glad to see you back, you were missed so much, take care.
Ruth
shirley, I did not know about this. I took a hiatus for awhile from DG and then my subscription expired so it was something I missed. How did you break your leg?
Swingtime is almost neon. Wonderful color! In fact, I think orange is my favorite flower color....
Thanks Ruth. It's good to be back.
Betty, I don't really know how I did it. I think possibly trying to dig potatoes out of the dirt that was like cement. Just a guess. I don't think I'll be planting potatoes next year in any case.
Shirley, I'm so glad you are getting better! So sorry you had such a crappy summer.
Swingtime is absolutely beautiful!! Congrats to you and Monika!!
Stay well and keep getting stronger. Hopefully you'll get your strength back this winter and next spring will be full of joy, like it should be!!
Then you'll be able to enjoy these plants, like you should!!
Bonnie

Swingtime is absolutely spectacular! Congratulations to you and Monika!! Fantastic color!!
I know what it is like to be unable to garden due to injuries and a bad back. Now that your Brugs are resting for the Winter, please take all the time you need to get back on your feet and regain your strength. I hope that 2006 will be a better year for you....medically speaking!
Beautiful Swingtime Brug!!!
I'm new to DG's and LOVING it. What a GREAT community of fellow gardeners. I too have just started growing Brugs. So Far all of my cuttings are doing GREAT just hoping I don't have all the wonderful problems I read alot have w/ the aphids. I know already I probably will 1. I live in the South 2. I have seen the ants lol
Hopefully will not be too big of a problem will try to head it off before it turns serious lol
Angie
Hello Shirley,
I was not around back when, so you are new to me, but I wish you good health and happiness. Seeing something like Swingtime open for the first time is really a thrill. We, Maggidew and I had an orange seedling of JT Sessions to surprise us this year and it's so much fun. We both really like orange. I will bump the thread up on the Sessions cross so you can have a look at her. It really is the year for orange. Hope to see you here often.

It's so good to see you are doing better, Shirley. What a summer you've had. You and Monika make a good team in growing those beautiful brugs.
What a beautiful brug! Monika and you make a great team! You are definitely priviledged to grow any of Monika's seeds. I'm glad you are feeling better and that you had help.
:) Donna

Thanks to you all. You are so nice. I appreciate all the good thoughts and may we all have a great summer in '06.
Kenboy, your orange is very pretty. I like all colors, but was getting a little tired of everything coming out pink. Variety is the spice of life is what I've heard. Thanks for sharing your picture/site and tell Maggie I say Hi.
Ted, I hope I don't miss out on anything tomorrow but you never know, so have a very Happy Birthday!!
Again, thanks to everyone for your nice comments and wishes. I'll be fine and I'm looking forward to giving my cuttings all the tender loving care they will need to make it through to next summer.
