My doggie has dandruff

My new mini doxie pup seems to have what appears to be dandruff. I separated hair so I could look at his skin and it is scaley and has white flecks (like dandruff) all over his coat. When I first got him a month ago I took him to the groomer for a bath. Could they have used something too harsh? Does anybody know the cause? Does anybody have a remedy? I want to bathe my baby before company arrives but don't want to aggravate his condition.
