You might want to cross post this in the begonia forum. I would encourage photos just because I LOVE looking at them!
Are you looking for leaves of Rex? I could send you Omaha Beefsteak leaf, also have Escargo and though not a rex, b. masoniana.

How are you rooting your leaves? I'm having some trouble with them rotting even tho they are in a perlite based mix.???

begoniacrazii,

I'm interested in Omaha Beefsteak leaf, Escargo, B. Masoniana. I only have leaves to offer since I just purchased these begonias. So I am looking for three leaves per trade.

I root the leaves by putting the stem in potting soil where the leaf is flush with the soil. I then pack the potting soil around the stem. I also have some special u pins that I made out of wire clothes hangers. I cut a 6 inch section of wire, run it through a piece of equal length of plastic tubing. I then bend it in you a U shape. I stick those through the leaf and soil in about three places depending on leaf size. This holds the leaf in place as well as forcing more plantletts to form where the pins tore through the leaf. I get at the very least one of three leaves to root this way.

Sandy.

You are welcome anytime. But if you want to see blooms you either have to come before it freezes ( should be any day now) or in the Spring.

You are up around the woodlands? off 290? Probably spring with
Thanksgiving upon us. But just to learn how you have so many brugs
thrive and bloom. I am working on a few but it is like pulling teeth
unless I leave them in the pot and theeithe root thru or I am thinking of burying them in a pot. I have 3 that have been in the ground 2 years and they just wont grow in height or the trunk doesn't get diameter. Could zone 9b be that much different?

Thanks,
Sandy ^8^

Sandy,

I live off of 290 and Telge. See you in the spring.

I use alot of organics in my soil. I have many planted in the ground. For me they do better in the ground. My Mom lives in the Rio Grande Valley and hers do very well in the ground. They (the brugs) are fertilizer junkies so you have to feed if you have poor soil.

I'm only looking for begonias and fancy leaf geraniums right now because all of mine died. I only have one cutting of each brugmansia that I am sacrificing to get some begonias. I purchased Begonias:

Gypsy Maiden
Fireworks
Jessica
Tornado
Gloria
Flame

on eBay. I paid $5.00 each and paid $16.00 for shipping of 6 begonias. OUTCH! I'm trying to get a nice collection started again because I just love begonias. I also had Kim buy and ship me 5 others that are absolutely beautiful but its hard to trade them because they are not named. I paid $5.00 each plus shipping. So you see...I'm really serious about wanting only begonias right now.

Next year I'm sure I'll have more to share.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

No problem. Thought I would find out. Never know till you ask. If you will let me know some names when I am out I will look around for some of them. You never know when I may find a deal. I would be glad to be on the look out even on the web.

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^

Are you sure? I want you to be able to get all the begonias you can.
I know what it is like to be a junkie. I just found out clivias have more colors than I can shake a stick at. :o)

Only If you are sure do you have paypal?

Thank you so much,
Sandy ^8^
