OT - Ms. Kitty, ignore her!

You do not deserve to be insulted by someone who doesn't even know you....on another forum where you aren't a member!

Nevermind...I am not going to post a link or name names...but on another forum the resident "?" posted insult after insult at our Ms.Kitty and it was unjustified. "Lord V" simply doesn't feel alive unless she is insulting someone. Ann - you do not deserve it, no one does. I just want you to know that you have been promoted to a very exclusive group!

Dearest Carol and Betsy! I had no idea that I was on my way to stardom (or, perhaps infamy?!) on other forums. I shall wear my crown with pride ;-)

I have just now picked myself up off the floor (I may have widdled my pants) because, when I read that forum thread, I collapsed in a fit of giggles at what appears to be someone's attempt to sound erudite. It kind of came out a little, shall we say, cockeyed???

From all your posts on Daves, I have found you to be a charming and fun lady. I assure you that posts on the MSN forum are not personally directed towards you in the least.

I suspect there are people who direct Ms. Burton to certain web sites knowing it will evoke a public response from her. I often wonder if these individauls want to learn the truth or want to push Ms. Burton in hopes of starting conflict. When she discovers information that is false, she will most definitely respond on HER forum.

I suggest that those of you who are offended by Ms. Burtons posts on the MSN forum simply not visit the MSN site. Since I consider her to be a close friend, and a lady I deeply respect and admire,
I find it offensive that she is being attacked on this site. I am a bit confused how one can condemn Ms. Burton for her posts and turn around and pubicly trash her here. I find that to be nothing short of Hypocritical.

There is an odd conundrum here that I would like to have the opportunity to discuss, if I may, since I seem to be, for the moment, the center of long-simmering storm.

Please bear with me as I attempt to lay out some thoughts that I feel are important:

1. This forum (Dave’s Garden) is a private forum. We pay $15.00 per year so that we have access to information and conversation that is private – it is not open to the internet public. Unless a person pays their subscription fees, he or she cannot view what is written, nor can he or she participate in forum dialogues.

2. Christine Burton’s MSN Forum is not private. Meaning, anyone who accesses the internet can read all postings made on her forum, however, one cannot participate in forum dialogues unless one pays the subscription fees.

3. What a person writes on the DG forum is for private consumption.

4. What Christine Burton writes on her forum is for public consumption.

5. The only way that Christine Burton will have access to anything written on the DG forum is for someone from the DG forum to forward that information to her (which, by the way, she stated someone from this forum did, in fact, do, in the first line of her original missive of the thread titled, “It's a real hoot, baby!”).

6. Because the things written on the DG forum are ostensibly not-for-public consumption, I have felt a sense of freedom that things I discuss on the DG forum, remain on the DG forum, and will not be sent out into the public domain where I can be made fun of by someone I do not even know.

7. I attempted to take the thread, which makes quite a bit of fun at my expense, with a bit of humor. I thought it was a person attempting to sound intelligent by way of disparaging the intelligence of another (i.e. me). I did not immediately realize it was a person who has some “standing” in the hoya collecting community, but as my awareness has increased about who this person is, I feel even more disgusted that someone of her stature would find it appropriate to make fun, publicly, of me. What have I done that should warrant this? I collect hoya’s, attend graduate school, and try to have relationships that are healthy and uplifting.

8. I normally would agree with meltn’s argument that those who are “offended by Ms. Burtons posts on the MSN forum simply not visit the MSN site.” Except for one very glaring problem, I have been outed and made fun of by Christine Burton on her very PUBLIC site because someone from this PRIVATE forum forwarded the information, used to make fun of me, to her!

9. So, what am I to do? I tried to wish away, using my defense mechanism – humor, what someone on this forum, in collaboration with Christine Burton, did to me. However, there is something very mean spirited about what has happened and I do not like it one bit. It is abundantly clear that most people on this forum are kind and generous. It is possible that whoever sent me off to the MSN gallows did so only in innocence. But nonetheless, I have been left swinging in the breeze on an open and public forum, so, from here on out, anyone who joins this forum, if they have read Ms. Burton’s forum, can know me as the idiot who is an “uninformed” hoya “hater.” Quite frankly, I think it is I, and ONLY I, who should be taking righteous offense right now.

10. As the final word on this I would like to request one thing from everyone on this forum. If you intend to share private forum discussions with someone who might post them on a public forum, please change the names so that “"MsKitty" from Eugene, Or” or, anybody else from this forum, does not have to be made a fool – I am plenty capable of making a fool out of myself. I don’t need help from anyone else – especially someone I do not know.

I sincerely apologize to anyone whose feelings I may have hurt. Please take me with a grain of salt, Mel, I have allways had a sarcastic streak which I will endeavor to clamp down on.
Lets just drop the subject, shall we? Daves hoya forum is not a self-contained world, but we can treat it as if it is. I like to think of it as an amatuer forum in the true sense of the word "amatuer", which is of a lover or someone of passionate interest in a given subject. We can be informal here, and allthough some of our members are profesional growers, such as Carol and Awanda and maybe others I don't know of, we are just discussing our shared passion here, not writing a thesis. So lets all relax.
Ann, your reputation is gold on the best Hoya forum there is!

Since I guess....'I started this", I shall back down. It not hypocritical to support someone who has been maligned in public. I fear NO one and no one's rath, as my slate is clear. I brought this whole thing up because I like Ann, and I felt sick that she was being maligned on a forum to which she doesn't belong by someone who does not know her.

Milan...you are right. There is a point at which things must be dropped. I said my piece. I will defend anyone who is wronged unjustly...I did it, don't apologize and I drop the subject. Ann, we love you!
