LLOL.I went shopping at wally world yesterday and the AV's were on sale.I came home with 8 named one.Then went across the street to HD and 2 more jumped into my carrige.Oh geez I'm addicted.
I've turned into a Av addict.

How long do you keep your new acquisitions in "quarrentine," Allison?
I've been figuring if no trouble shows up in, say, 2 weeks then I'm free to mix & match with my other AVs... ??

critterologist sorry I forgot. I put new ones in little extra green houses I have. I also put them in different rooms in on window shelves. I try to do this 6-8 weeks . If I do see a plant not doing good even a baby as mites can travel on leaves I throw it away. I also try to put down new leaves of each plant I get. Little peice of insurance.
I am bleach crazy. My husband goes nuts as I use few few of those largest containers of strong bleach each week. Stands and potting table bleached, new pots soaked in hot bleach, once a week sometimes every two trays and boxes soaked over night in bath tub in hot water and strong, strong bleach. My husband has to do it. He mubles about it sometimes lol but he buys the bleach and always does it. I try to keep my plants and plant area as clean as possible, Mites love dirty leaves. I just do a little bit here and a little bit there and knock on wood never any problem.

6 to 8 weeks.... hmmm... I will have to start isolating mine for longer periods! I do keep a pretty sharp eye on the newcomers, mostly since I'm on the lookout for new blooms, LOL, but isolation would be better if some new lovely brought a nasty hitchhiker with it.
Oh boy it didn't take we to long did it.LOL.I have put all the new plants in the little greenhouse.In another room from the few I already had.Thanks for telling me about this Allison.Being a newbie to AV I'm learning more each day.I will post a list of the plants on the other thread.
