Hoya Help please

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I just noticed on this hoya that there are what look to be spent bloom stems. Can the hoya gurus help me id these. As many of you may know, I'm a hoya blossom virgin and have never seen one in person but thanks to this forum have learned not to remove the blooms so they will flower again next time? I think. At any rate, if these are what I think they are, I'm THRILLED at the prospect that this might bloom again.

Carol, can you remember off hand which one this is? You told me but I can't remember where on DG?

Thanks Hoya Gurus

Whole plant

p.s. why is it looking sickly yellow (is it a watering issue?)

I believe your hoya is H. DS-70, aka tsangii. Yes that is a bloom spur. How do you water it and what light do you give it? Don't get discouraged this one is a tuff plant. I received one through the mail last November from North Carolina, it looked way worse than yours. Took a couple months for it to get back in shape. It's now thriving in morning sun, and has about 20 bloom spurs.

Is your DS-70 from Exotic Angel?????

If not, perhaps the soil is too soggy...it may need more oxygen around the roots by adding orchid bark, perlite etc.... yes it seems to me yellowing leaves are a water issue...but we start by finding out where the issue starts.

The few Exotic Angel plants I've bought, I immediately repotted into a lighter mixture. Seems I've read more than once out here that EA uses something in their soil to help retain water.
BTW ~ I'm proud of myself! When I very first looked at the picture posted, I thought "hmm, that looks like DS-70 to me" and I guess I was right!! So I'm leeeeaaarrrning! =) A couple months ago when I first joined D'sG, I didn't even know the difference between my Crimson Queen and my Crimson Princess (the Queen wears her royalty on the OUTSIDE, the Princess must wear hers INSIDE).
YOU ALL ARE GOOD TEACHERS! thank you!

Yes, Aloha, that's the name you gave me before! I just couldn't remember. I bought this in Kentucky while traveling last month and in order to get it home had to take it out of the pot and pack it up to check with luggage. It came through pretty good.

I think I'll repot it in some better soil, I has a lot of peat in the soil and feels soggy to the touch. In fact when I repotted it once I was home, I have not watered it at all. Just yesterday for the first time in close to 4 weeks. That tells me it's probably staying a bit too wet.

So she'll get a 'face lift' today and a name tag! Thanks all!
p.s. she's not dropping leaves (yet) they are just yellowing. Can I feed it 'Super Bloom' to encourage some blooms? I'm DYING to smell one!

SandyC has good luck watering EA plants from the bottom in a dish of water.

I wouldn't give it SuperBloom....let it be winter if those are your conditions. if it is warm, humid and given a balanced fert. that hoya should bloom just fine. BTW, it will take a lot of light and the leaves turn reddish. Very pretty.
