yellow suav blooming for this newbie!

Corte Madera, CA

not sure if i'm imagining this, but getting darker by the day. i think it will open up more, and perhaps become a darker yellow? that will be awesome!

bloom is 11" from the calyx.

thank you for looking.

Love it, that first pic looks like a starfish.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

I hate to state this but to ID a brugmansia by a photo isn't what one should be trying to do, this is how errors in names can happen. Please call it unknown and love it for what it is .

Corte Madera, CA

thank you all!

hi, shirley! i actually e-mailed the grower and he only has a couple of yellows, so it won't be from a compendium of brugs. i do love unknowns, that's why i love growing from seeds.

linda, right on with the starfish. my son noticed that, too. it has curved since i took this photo and will post more tomorrow.

twyla, thank you for always cheering this newbie on!

TM, i've always admired CG from photos. we'll find out soon...

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Does it have a fragrance?
Sidney

Corte Madera, CA

sidney, wow, on the fragrance. sweet, lemony scent. not overpowering. but i haven't really experienced many brugs yet. thanks for stopping by.

Very pretty annapet, it's fun attempting to identify them, it's a great way to learn and only means that they look alike or don't look alike, lol. I never thought I would get to that point that I could identify anything, then, all of a sudden one day, I started seeing resemblance in families and sisters. Last year I had three seedlings that looked identical - well, I guess so, they were from the same pod, easily identified and were obviously sisters. Same thing this year, L'AmourxTiara, Mary H's cross - I have 4 seedlings, three that look like triplets, then a little smaller look alike sister. Pretty cute when that happens and lots of fun...

Corte Madera, CA

thanks, sherry. at least this one i don't have to climb up the berm. it's right next to the mailbox, and is pretty low at 3ft.

someday i'll get to see many brugs so i can study the form, foliage, tendrils and all. i have such a small sample right now =).

thanks, patricia! this brug is bringing me, the neighbors, and mailman so much joy. it's outside my fence and not up the berm.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Not so long ago Brugmansia's were fairly easy to ID by a picture. Now because of the the increased popularity, hybridization and distribution of the plant it is no longer possible to make an ID by this method. Hopefully the logic is clear in that the only means of definitave ID'ing of a variety through expensive DNA testing.

Corte Madera, CA

hi, shirley. thank you.

kell, thanks. the outer rim is indeed darker.

Ohhhhhh Annapet, I rememebered, it is Jean Pasko. The skirt looks a lot like that one, doesn't it?

It took a while but I got it going again! LOL

Corte Madera, CA

oh, my! that is so IT. thanks, kell!

grower doesn't offer too many yellows. "jean pasko" is the only one in that color range. now i want that "tropical sunset" you mentioned.

woo-hoo! brug dance!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I love Tropical Sunset. I had it but my DH must have tossed it.

I now must be content to enjoy so many brugs vicariously!! When you start growing your own hybrids, you can't really grow all you see unless you live on a farm. I had to decide between getting my kicks from anticipating brand new brugs or by enjoying the beautiful but known ones. I can really only keep those that I use for hybridizing. So sad!! But so exciting too!

Corte Madera, CA

oh, wow, my own hybrid. someday. the bees are really buzzing and chances are pods will develop.

jean pasko is only a few feet away from the blooming candida double white, unk pink, and unk white/delicate yellow.

dreaming on. it's free.
