View from right end.

Everything has a pink glow because of the wall paper in back of the stand. Jill, Meg is in the second row at the left. The small, pink bloom.

Wow, those are beautiful. How did you get them to bloom? Mine look kind of like that without the flowers. : ) They really are pretty. HP

I'm not sure, but I think it was a combination of several things. I changed soil to a lighter mix; using 8 quarts of prepared av soil, 8 quarts of perlite, and 2 quarts of charcoal. I also bought the plant stand and give them 13 hours on light. 3rd, they receive water from a wick. Last, I lessened the amount of fertilizer. Right now I am using Schultz 8-15-9. The directions say 7 drops per quart. I mix it by the gallon and use about 15 to 17 drops instead of 28.

Don't know if the resulting blooms are a result of any one of the above or a combination of all 4.

Wonderful....your plants are just beautiful. Looking forward to all of mine blooming someday. Hopefully they will be pretty like yours.

FABULOUS!!!

I am in awe.

I've been repotting bunches of AVs. I'm using an even lighter mix for everything too, and trying some wick watering. I've also switched to the fertilizer that I picked up at the Violet Gallery, but I've been using it at the strength she suggested since that seems to work so well for them. My plants are now under lights too, and I'm getting ready to Stand Back!! if/when they burst into bloom like this! Wowza!!

Nanna, I do think that 'Meg' looks larger than my Rosie Girl NoID, and the flower form seems maybe a little different too. I've posted this pic before, but will post it again for comparison... As with our "blue star" and "purple star" NoIDs, I think we have different violets even if they have similar descriptions.

Is that your Majestic in the second photo on the right second from front ? Ot's very pretty. Their all pretty ! What is the one front left fantasy flowers name ? I like fantasy flowers !
Oh and the first photo the plant in the middle so pretty what is its name ?

Looks like my Allegro's Harvest Moonglow.
All your plants are wonderful :))
Thanks, Allison

Thanks everyone.

Allison, the one you thought was Majectic is Optimira's Mississippi. The fantasy type flower is Pretty Miss Kelly. First picture plant in the middle is a NoID. A very pretty one. I was actually thinking of naming her moonglow.

Jill you Rosey Girl is a much more delicate shade of pink. She is very pretty. Can't wait until mine blooms.

Oh Nanna - gorgeous violets! Yours look so lovely spaced out like that. My bad....I have mine packed in pretty close together because I have more violets than room! I know it's not good for them, though.
Another word on lights: too much of a good thing can be bad!
I apparently had one shop lite hanging too close on my new shelf and some of my violets started showing signs of too much light....such as the leaves on the crown appear tight and somewhat "deformed". I've been guilty of that before and once the problem is corrected, the plants recover quickly. (and I'm sure it's the light and not disease) So any of you thinking about lights, you may want to keep that in mind: don't set them TOO close!

Nanna,
Their all so pretty :)) Pretty Miss kelly is a pretty plant I have had leaves of her a few times but I had no luck and they never gave me babies :((. I like Fantasy flowers a lot also :))
My B-Man's Cosimo is a fantasy bloomer and It's so pretty. I have B-man's Etna ( I think you said you do ?) That's a real nice fantasy.
Harvest Moonglow I feel is a tiny bit darker shade blue than this all though cameras, and lighting , enviroment change a lot of plants looks.
Your plants are all Happy ! It's good to have them spaced like you do. Having them close and not good air circulation can cause a lot of plant illness. I am glad I will be shipping a lot of plants out in the next couple weeks so I can spread my big ones out more !

Oh Nanna I looked up Optimira's Mississippi.. That's not the plant I meant . Did you know there are two Optimira's Mississippi. in First Class Optimira's Mississippi. is from 1987 and Optimira's Mississippi. is from 1987. Both Registered. . Your's looks like
Optimira's Mississippi.II. Ok say your second picture. the plant back along next to the pretty wall paper way on the right behind the pink and white one with the deep blue flowers is it that one ?
It sure looks close to the picture of it in First Class. :))
Thanks, Allison

OH Ps.
Seedlings and small baby, small plants require more light. I use the gro-light 32 watt. Good plants to place directly under the lights,
~~ Dark Green
~~~ Blue and Purple flowers
~~ Double petalled flowers
~~~ Boy-type flowers
~~ Young seedlings, plants
Around the outer edges of the light
Place the plants with
~~~ Light green foliage
~~~ Pink and white blossoms
~ ~~ Variegated leaf varieties
~ ~ Girl-Type Foliage
Plants growing 12-14 hours a day have a tremendous appetite. Growing African violets under lights 12 to 14 hours a day is giving them ideal growing conditions.
Three factors in care of growing Av's under lights must be adjusted to meet their increased demands of the plants as the are rapidly growing and flowering. These factors are, water, fertilizing and temperature. Proper balnce is important to the well being of your Av's.
Spacing of your plants are very important
African violets should not be crowded together under lights . They need planty of room for their rosette of leaves to grow over the edge of the pot. The plants are too close together if the leaves from different plants touch each other. Air movement and humidity around the plants is interfered with when the plants are placed too close together. .
Disease organisms and insect pest can easily spread from one
plant to another if plants are crowded up under lights. Leave ample room for your African violets to develop and so you can easily work among the plants without disburbing them.
Lights should be 6- 18 inch above the top of the plants. It is going to depend on what size plants you are growing.
I grow a lot of Mini's and Micro's. I keep like plants together :))

The deep blue flowers with the wavy leaves is Optimira EverSpecial.

They are about 10 to 12 inches from the lights. And receive 12 to 13 hours of light per day. I try not to have them too close together. I had a bout with mealy bugs last year and I determined that not enough air circulation was the problem. I try very hard not to have leaves touch eachother.

Your set up is prefect :)) Your plants are all Happy and Healthy and nice spacings. Your light you give them is excellent too. They are luckt to have a great AV MOM :))
Oh my I have EverSpecial and mine has lighter green leaves and green edge on flowers. Maybe it's your lightning and the way I'm seeing it on my computer. The EverFloris series are some of my favorites :))

Mine was the color of your this spring. This is the third blooming and the green edge has turned to creamy white and the leaves have darkened quite a bit. Don't know what caused the change. She came in a 6 inch pot but was not at all happy. The outer leaves kept wilting. I repotted to a 4 inch and lightened the soil and began a wicking program for her water. She is very happy but her appearance has changed.

Yes Different environments can change what plants look like. I have even many times seen two or three plants all grown from the same Mom leaf same way all look and bloom different.
