Nov 13 - Still Bloomin On Plus BIG Seed Pods

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Have played R. Roulette with Mother Nature - we all know who usually wins out. But everything is still going strong, and I had doggies to groom, puppies to raise, leaves to rake. I'm so glad winter left my Orange Custard (Eventide lookalike) to linger on and bloom, because look at the PODS! Three of them! He is right next to the prolific Rosamond/Everlasting hybrid #2, so a neat combo could be underway.

The Honey Bees, for the first time this year, are flocking to my remaining Brugs - this picture is on a blooming Ecuadorian Pink - has anyone ever had a taste of Brugmansia honey? I think it's very exciting that in mid Nov this tropical plant is bringing in lots of Honey Bees - I only saw wh moths and Bumbles all summer.

My bees are thick too Polly. Your pods are fantastic, I have them, not that large, but I don't think they will mature outside, so I'll bubbler them in the GH. These bees are funny in the cooler weather, I think it makes them more passionate, lol!!

Neat! Looks as if you will be pretty busy planting seeds. Good luck with them.

Mayby just a little buzz would be nice - brug buzz honey.........our crepe myrtle honey is wonderful, but now it would be mixed honey, next time I talk to the bee man I'll ask him about poison plants and honey, I understand many plants in ornamental gardens are deadly.

Way to go Pollygardening! Those bees sure want to help you out. I remember someone talking about slurping the brug nectar here in DG.

It is quite a happening to have Brugmansias as a late fall blooming plant here in 7b!
Here is my brug garden outshining my camellia sasanquas:
(I've been unable to send any pictures since 2:00 pm will have to wait until tomorrow morning)

I am already counting till spring. I can't wait!!! I bet your CG can't wait either to put on an even bigger show.

'Ole Charlie met his doom last night - I dismembered him after this picture, cut him to four feet, and saved the cuttings. 28* last night, 24 tonight; all my Brugs in the ground are finished - a sad sight.

I measured a Cupid's Blush seedpod that was eight inches today; it has grown one inch on it's stem in water since I took it into the GH a week ago.
Quite a specimen!
